OP please please please do not stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. It is in a severe need of an entire refurbishment. We stayed there for 5 nights in late August 2016 and we had no wifi at all, 2 broken toilets (one of which they "forgot" to fix so it was running constantly for over 3 hours), a constant loudly gurgling sink (we had to stuff towels in the sinks so we could sleep), an overpowering mildew stench in our hallway for a few days and, lastly, were woken up from our midday naps one day by a repair noise that sounded like someone was drilling a hole directly into our brains. Quite possibly the worst hotel, Disney or not, experience I've had in my entire life. And, to top it off, we were treated flippantly by the hotel manager when we complained and asked, after days of problems, to move rooms. All we could think the whole time we were there was that the convenience of the proximity to the parks was not worth it. We have stayed at PPH and DLH, multiple times, and never had an experience like that.
I know everyone's experience is different, but we have stayed at the GCH 3 times in over 2 years and had wifi issues each visit so it's obvious that these problems are common and well known. And not to sound like everyone else, but... you kinda feel like for the price you're paying for the rooms that your stay will be greater because of it. Sadly for us that wasn't true. We had an experience closer to a very beautiful flop house with a majestic lobby.
