Which Disney hotel

Disneyland Hotel has a special magic! That is just my opinion though. The GCH rooms do need an update soon. I do agree that PPH does have great park views. Ultimately, no matter which you choose, you will have a great time!

Hi :)

Magic in what way?
Thanks

This is just my opinion, but since its kind of the flagship of the hotels if feels special. Also the theming is much more prominent, and makes me feel like I'm in that "Disney bubble" even after I leave the parks. For example, after checking in, we have run in to Goofy or Pluto just strolling the grounds. There's no better way to start your visit! Its elegant Disney! GCH is Craftman style Disney, beautiful but just not enough Disney magic for me, PPH is beachy Disney, fun and laid back.

We did a split stay DGC and DLH (3 nights each). Everything went smoothly, but then you have to check in again at the new hotel etc. And that all takes time. Loved staying at both, but felt like the transfer day we lost alot of hotel time that would've been convenient for an afternoon break. Seems like our rooms are never ready at 3pm, usually 4pm or later. So, you're out having a room between 11am check out to 3-4 pm. If you do need an afternoon break (even for 1 person in your group) that can be inconvenient. We are rope drop people and some of us enjoy putting our feet up and getting refreshed between 1-4pm.

Love the feeling of the convenience of DGC (but the hallways can seem really, really long on your return to your room). We have since requested a room near an elevator. But as they state a "request is just a request.....not a guarantee". But we loved it there. Had a theme park view with the Monorail running right outside our room. With the sliding doors shut, we never had a problem with any outside noise, even on Grad night. Our rooms never seemed dated.

DLH : regular Rooms / 3 bedroom suite.... we've only been given the parking lot view. A bit bigger on the room size compared to the DGC. And the accessories / theme of the room was nice.

PPH Theme Park View fabulous ! Also, bigger rooms.

Where ever you book, try to book as soon as possible and then keep a watch out for discounts, which they will apply to your existing reservations. If specials are to added to your reservation ....such as 1 Fastpass per person with the offer you booked at, be sure to have that info with you as sometimes at check in they might not know what you're talking about, but if you have a print out / screen shot they'll either find that offer or find someone that knows about it.

Which ever hotel you chose..... look around at the details.
Enjoy ...... and ask GS's what their daily itinerary / schedules are. Such as trivia challenges, tours etc.

I would pick one, just because as mentioned, transferring hotels is annoying and will really eat into your time.

I did stay at the PPH once, and was pretty disappointed. Giant lines for the elevators in the morning, and I had no wi-fi in my room. Big issue if you work from home. That being said, the service was amazing. We're looking at possibly staying at the Disneyland Hotel this time if the winter sale gets announced this month as a treat. It seems to have the best theming in the rooms, and is very "classic" Disney.

I would choose just one hotel, IMO all the packing and unpacking to move around takes up too much time. I've stayed at both DLH and the Grand, stayed more often at the Grand and that's what we liked the best. Enjoy the short walk into the parks and their entrance into California Adventure. We stayed once on club level at the Grand. They usually had small bites out to eat, breakfast set up in am (cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, muffins, and sometimes eggs or pancakes). IMO, not worth the cost for what you get.

I agree completely with this! DLH is wonderful and did feel very magical to us. We bumped into Goofy upon checkout and it was a great way to end the trip! OP, I would also recommend one hotel and not taking the time to switch around. We had extra time on our last day, so we popped into all 3 and had a look around, I don't think there is a bad choice!

OP please please please do not stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. It is in a severe need of an entire refurbishment. We stayed there for 5 nights in late August 2016 and we had no wifi at all, 2 broken toilets (one of which they "forgot" to fix so it was running constantly for over 3 hours), a constant loudly gurgling sink (we had to stuff towels in the sinks so we could sleep), an overpowering mildew stench in our hallway for a few days and, lastly, were woken up from our midday naps one day by a repair noise that sounded like someone was drilling a hole directly into our brains. Quite possibly the worst hotel, Disney or not, experience I've had in my entire life. And, to top it off, we were treated flippantly by the hotel manager when we complained and asked, after days of problems, to move rooms. All we could think the whole time we were there was that the convenience of the proximity to the parks was not worth it. We have stayed at PPH and DLH, multiple times, and never had an experience like that.

I know everyone's experience is different, but we have stayed at the GCH 3 times in over 2 years and had wifi issues each visit so it's obvious that these problems are common and well known. And not to sound like everyone else, but... you kinda feel like for the price you're paying for the rooms that your stay will be greater because of it. Sadly for us that wasn't true. We had an experience closer to a very beautiful flop house with a majestic lobby.

I am so sorry to hear about your stay at GCH! I totally agree that the rooms need an upgrade ASAP. The lobby is all that I really enjoy about that hotel.
