Okay our total kitchen remodel is almost done - our dishwasher is hooked up and I realize I don't know squat about dishwasher detergent or drying agents? I stood in the supermarket aisle staring - did I want lemon fresh or spring fresh or no scent at all - Did I want a "total" all in one detergent - liquid or crystals - I realized I was over my head(scary considering I am a nurse) So I will ask the experts of this board:

Which dishwasher detergent and drying agent do you use?

I'm not sure it matters what kind. But, I have found that the liquid dishwasher detergents don't work as well as the powder. They leave more of a residue on my glasses.

I use Cascade and in the rinse aid dispenser I use the Cascade Crystal Clear. I have tried cheaper detergents, but I like the results I get with Cascade.

Cascade liquid, been using it since it came out. We like it better than the powder.

Cascade Liquid and Jet Dry. I bought Electrasol to try out, can't tell a difference right now. But normally I always buy Cascade Liquid. Will never go back to hand washing dishes!;)

Electrosal tabs and Jet Dry.

I agree with eeyore.

And we don't use a rinse agent. Have not had the need. I think that it depends on the kind of water that you have (hard or soft.)

I have had several people comment on how "spotless" our glasses are. I know that *I* have been happy.

Oh - BTW - I don't rinse my dishes before they go into the dishwasher either. (Figure THAT is why I have the dishwasher. :) ) And I never have any problems with "stuck on" food - UNLESS I have not loaded properly and the spray was not able to get to a particular dish.

Hope that this was not TMI. :)

Electrasol Lemon scented tabs.:) Sometimes I get Cascade. I bought those gel pacs not too long ago too. My ds wouldn't stop squishing them:rolleyes:, so I stopped buying them. I can't really tell a difference if I use a rinse aid or if I don't use one. So I don't use one.

Generally, whatever is cheapest. Lately that seems to be the tablets.

I have a very old dishwasher...it is avocado green(can you say 1970???), and I don't have any trouble regardless of what detergent I use. My dishes always come out great!

I buy a huge tub of it at Sam's Club. It's called member's mark and works as well as anything that I have tried.

I prefer Cascade and I use the Cascade Crystal Clear in the rinse dispenser.

I use the Electrosol tablets and Jet dry liquid for the rinse because I have hard water. Where I lived previously the water was fine so I didn't use the rinse.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Everything washed by hand, ALL MY LIFE!! :(

I will tell you this though, NEVER, NEVER, EVER use regular dish soap in a dishwasher. My father, a plumber, did this not once but, twice and, I have picture proof!! What a riot and, what a mess!!!! :p

I usually buy whatever is on sale or cheap. :teeth:

Right now I'm using Electrasol Gel Pacs. I love them. Picked up a bunch on sale and they are great.

I knew this was a well informed bucnh - THANKS:D
