We are arriving Friday around 5 pm with our 5th wheel at Fort Wilderness. Where should we eat that night? We have only done the princess lunch in Epcot, Dinner at Liberty Tree and breakfast at O'hana's. It will be us with our two kids 11 and 9 and our friends and their two kids the same ages. Any suggestions for a fun evening?

I have heard many say that they kick off their trip with dinner at Chef Mickey's. Sounds like a good idea to me , we are not going to do a table service our first night rather just hang out at the resort and grab something from the food court.

Since you are at Fort Wilderness, you might consider the Hoop Dee Doo Review. We went for the first time in 2007 and loved it. We had inlaws and 5kids that ranged in age from 5 to 14 and they loved it. I know some on the boards didn't like the food, but we liked it and thought the show was very entertaining.

How about something at Trails End? Its handy and you can get a good nights rest after all that traveling.

I agree that Hoop De Doo would be fun, but it is expensive, and so I would not schedule it for a first night. You could be held up at the airport, or delayed or something. I booked a Wishes Cruise for my first night once, and it was just a nerve wrecking experience since our flight was delayed.

I would suggest maybe either Downtown Disney, or 'Ohana. You can usually watch Wishes from 'Ohana. Good Luck with whatever you decide!

You can usually watch Wishes from 'Ohana.

The "usually" applies only if you can actually get ressies that get you in the restaurant during the 14 minute show.

Otherwise, a view of Wishes from the beach at the Poly is great, too.

Another vote for the Hoop Dee Doo. It is completely Disney and a fun way to start your vacation. The kids will love it and it is lots of fun for all ages.
Enjoy

Chef Mickey's was our favorite character meal. It would be a great way to see Mickey and his friends to start your vacation. The food is awesome! They do a little fun celebration type dance where you wave your napkins. Our kids loved it!!

Moving this one over to Disney Restaurants.. you'll get the best answers there.

I would have to say O'Hana for a first night meal. If your looking for something in the parks I would suggest Crystal Palace for a Pooh and friends dinner buffet.

i was really just about to post this same question...just figuring out how to phrase the question...

so sorry to thread jump...but i am pretty much in the same boat arriving 2-15 at 3pm @ AKV by 4pm and really have no idea what to do i know that MK has EMH that night, but i will pass since we have early CRT ressies the next moring so I don't want to stay out late??? just me and my 5yoDD:banana:

yup.

I am planing to do Chef Mickeys for our first night. We did breakfast there the last time but this will be our first experience with dinner. I would also suggest looking into WCC at the WL. My kids are 13 and 11 and we plan to try this place one of our days for our trip. Seems like a fun restaurant.

Have a great time.

We like to start our trip with Chef Mickey's dinner at the Contemporary Resort. The kids love this place! :lovestruc The character interaction is excellent. It's an exciting way to start off the trip. Other suggestions I have is..
Whispering Canyon Cafe- It's at Wilderness Lodge. I have heard that the food is good, and that it's a lot of fun.

Also, one time we started off our trip with a dinner at Mama Melrose in Disney Hollywood Studios, for the fantasmic package. I think this would be a great start to an exciting trip. We had 10 people total in our trip when we did this, and everybody was happy, and excited after seeing the Fantasmic show. The food was really good too. The fantasmic package guarantees you seats for the show. If you have not seen Fantasmic yet, I would do the fantasmic package for either your first, or last night.
