I am looking for a new digital camera and have narrowed it down to the Canon A75 and the Canon A85. The A85 is $70 more than the A75 but has 4 mp instead of 3.2, is it worth the extra money for more mp? I believe everything else is the same between the two.

I tried an A85 out for 2 weeks in October. Gave it a good testing at a wedding & a kids birthday party.

I ended up returning the camera. It had the WORST red eye I've ever encountered. Flash too close to the lens. (We own an Olympus D450 & Olympus C750). I also missed the 10x zoom our C750 has.

However, I loved how fast it was between shots. It was also very intuitive & buttons in convenient locations. It also had about 12 scene modes which were good. Loved it's smaller size. Our C750 can be a bit large to carry around sometimes.

Also, the media card that came with the camera malfunctioned by the 5th shot....so I was glad I had purchased another card so I could take pics at the wedding.

I was somewhat disappointed since we had heard nothing but good about Canons.

I would be happy to email you some shots from the bday party as examples of TONS of red eye on everyone in photo -- even with the red eye flash on. Best Buy took camera back without re-stocking fee since card had malfunctioned. He agreed with red eye problem.
