Which Dessert Party?

We've done the Fantasmic one and really enjoyed it. Should we do the Magic Kingdom one (if so which one there's seated, standing and after) or the Rivers of Light

Are you talking about the dessert package with Fantasmic? We've done that one too and really like it but the dessert parties are very different. Hands down though, I'd do the dessert party at the MK. To me, it's the one must do every trip just to get the reserved area to watch the fireworks. We always do the after party. It allows you to get to the garden area first and eating after the fireworks is much more relaxed. I don't care for the view with the seated option, it's not good for seeing the projections.

We did the Happily Ever After - Before Fireworks party just a few weeks ago - my first time. While it was nice that we didn't have to stake out a spot to watch fireworks way in advance, and the Garden Viewing area is very comfortable, I was hoping for a little more substantial food so as to justify the price (and that was before the price increase that just went into effect, even without the alcohol). The only "savory" items were cheese and a cheeseburger eggroll. Was hoping it could be more like a light dinner - it is not. If I could justify the price for what I got, then I would have considered it for my upcoming Spring Break trip. But for five Disney adults (three kids 10+), I couldn't see spending that kind of money. So we will just have to find a spot somewhere to see the fireworks.

I have heard the RoL desert party has much better food options, but don't think I'd want to spend that money when the viewing location isn't noticeably better. But that's not from firsthand experience.

Agree with this! We did the pre-fireworks MK party for the first time last month and loved it! We did the Plaza Garden viewing which is the standing option. Personally, I think the view is MUCH better than the seated Terrace option AND it's cheaper.

We did the Before Garden View dessert party last Spring Break. My entire family loved it. We took to go drinks with us to the garden. We also went to the far left back side (against the railing) and had a great center view of the castle.

Well shoot I booked the after party, but now I'm wondering if I should do the dessert party before the fireworks. Thoughts?

We've done the Before Plaza garden party several times. There's no way that the desserts served justify the price - I don't think anyone could eat enough to make that true. I regard it more as a way to get a comfortable, straight on view in a non-crowded space so that I don't have to camp out over an hour early and be packed in like sardines with the crowd on Maine street or in the hub, with some nice desserts thrown in as a bonus. Whether you would prefer before or after depends on a few things - your touring style, park hours, and whether MK is open after HEA.
