The Polynesian gets my vote! I think it is the best looking and has the best amenities out of all the deluxes. :)

We LOVED the Grand Floridian cuz it was our very first visit to WDW when our kids were just 5 and 3 - it's so magical at that age - you just fall in love! Now our kids are 21 and 18 and 9, so the magic is a little less, but we have fallen in love with the Yacht Club because of location!

I have only been to GF. So it is my fav. I loved the service everytime I turned around someone was willing to help me.

Thanks
Sarah

Our family favors both the Poly & AKL. Both have wonderful themeing which we enjoy.

But, of the two, the Poly definitely has the advantage. We love the relaxed & welcoming feeling of the Poly, the large rooms, Kona... and the close proximity to MK & Epcot via monorails (location, location location!). You can reach Epcot via the Monorail just as quickly as you would from many of the Epcot area resorts via walking. The Poly really is not 'too big', either--only takes a few minutes to walk from one end of the resort to the other, and the gardens/grounds are absolutely beautiful. We actually prefer stroling those gardenia scented garden paths to walking down some long, enclosed hallway.

Of the ones we have stayed in, I would vote for the GF (especially during the holidays). Rooms are nice, grounds are beautiful and it is on the monorail. Only a 5 min. ride to MK!! It is expensive but wonderful!!!!!:thumbsup2

WL - best service.

Polyn - best rooms - but some of their CM's either don't understand English - or don't care. if they are at the front desk they should understand English.
maids I can be more understanding of the lack of English. but when I need something and the front desk CM can't understand what I am saying....

well you get the picture.

No you can't walk to Animal Kingdom (unless you want a REALLY long walk-like several hours). Look here for a map.

Whoops.... sorry... I was thinking of the AKL not WL :rotfl:

Can you walk to the Animal Kingdom from the AKL?

For us, it comes down to GF, Poly, or CR, because there is NO substitute for monorail service and MK views at night. GF is out - too ritzy for me. Our kids prefer CR - definitely best MK view, and the ability to walk to MK is a big plus. But, the winner has to be Poly. Beautiful setting, MK view, monorail, walk to TTC, AND, they even have good coffee!!!

I voted for the BWI because of it's location. I LOVE that area!

WL is my second choice because I like that theming the best.

The POLY!!! :thumbsup2

My first WDW Resort back in 1971 (Wow...how old am I?!?!?!?!) and still my favorite!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Contemporary Resort almost 20 years ago as newlyweds. We stayed at the Polynesian about seven years ago (first time to WDW with a little one in tow.) We stayed at the Beach Club Resort a few years ago prior to our launch on the Disney Wonder...

This December, we're heading back to CR!!! It's the only one of the three that makes me want to return. AKL and WL both intrigue me, but I just love being close enough to either MK or EPCOT to actually walk. It surprises me that Polynesian is so highly rated and was my least favorite of the three.

I'm so excited about returning to the Contemporary Resort!!! The cost has me a little shaken, but I just can't resist being so close to Magic Kingdom at Christmas time... We're even springing for the MK view.

:santa:

Which deluxe do you think is the best? Best service, clean, best atmosphere etc....
Be sure to also add your comments as to why you think it is the best.

poly........location, transportation, kona coffee, beauty, longhouses with patios and ducks.....did i forget the kona coffee

I voted Wilderness Lodge because:

1. I like the Magic Kingdom resorts the best since I spend the most time there.

2. The Polynesian is too big.

3. The Contemporary tower rooms are too loud. And the garden rooms are too far.

4. The Grand Floridian is too posh.

5. The Wilderness Lodge is just right! :rotfl: I like that once you're in the building, you're in the building. Ahhh, a/c. Would be nice to be on the monorail but it's also nice to go directly somewhere without always trying to finagle the TTC transfer.

:thumbsup2 Agree 100%
have to add the CR felt like an airport, GF looks like my son would get yelled at and not so comfy, poly looks to spread out and not the feel of being on "inside lobby"

AKL is so so so gorgeous and although it's a little far away the transportation always seems top notch compared to many of the other ones.

The BCV aren't far behind for me and definitely would be on top if it was for the transportation, the boats are almost always crowded which is the only way besides walking to get to MGM or EPCOT and I find it pretty annoying sharing a bus with Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Dolphin and Swan sometimes.

As you can tell, it's a big issue with me about transportation but hey, I go always in September now because of the lack of crowds. However, the buses/boats still get very crowded when it's been a long day for me and my family I'd really really appreciate being able to actually sit down comfortably on a bus where there aren't anyone's rear-ends or armpits in my face.

Furthermore, I've been to every resort and stayed at some of them too and if on the BCV would get better transportation and would have the food court caliber of POP and were a little more romantic/intimate feeling like POLY I would insist on living there for the rest of my life but until then AKL is numero uno for me.

I didn't vote since my first ever visit to WDW was this past week. We had just taken a 7 day western caribbean cruise and wanted to visit WDW on the back end. We stayed at the GF and won't stay there again. Housekeeping ruined the visit for us which was a shame because everyone else (front desk, bellmen, wait service staff provided great service). On the cruise, service from our stateroom hostess was just incredible. She regularly checked on us and quickly knew our room habits so as to know when to come and clean the room. Maybe it had a lot to do with managing expectations and different labor pools but what a difference b/w that and the housekeeping service at the GF. They left a lot to be desired that's for sure - they absolutely stunk IMO. Didn't clean the room for two days. When they did it was minimal clean/vaccuum at best. No towel animals for any of the 4 nights we were there (that was one of the neat things that my kids (ages 4 and 2) look forward to on the cruise). The drain in one of the sinks was not working properly, furniture in the room was very shabby. My son dropped a toy under the couch in the room and it was absolutely disgusting the amount of debris under it  - you can tell that they never vaccuum under there. Maybe because the building was not yet refurbished they just didn't care as much? :confused3 In any event, we hope to visit again in May for a couple of nights before we take the WB Repo cruise. We'll be subscribing to this thread for suggestions as to where else to stay because it sure won't be GF!

For me it's the POLYNESIAN, hands down. :thumbsup2

Each visit we've had gorgeous grounds, wonderful mousekeeping, friendly CMs (especially at the Neverland Club and at Kona Cafe) and KONA COFFEE! And there's that bonus of having the monorail right there! Little and big kids (like me) love it because it's just something special about that south seas theming right there at the MK.

I wanted to try staying at the Contemporary but the kids voted me down. In the end I had to agree with them. :thumbsup2 One day I'll make it there but for now, the POLY is tops with us.
