Not sure what Im looking to book but we do want a verandah. So which deck is best? and what's the difference in the verandahs? Anything else we should consider?

Which deck is best is definitely a matter of personal preference. The category 6 rooms are on decks 5 and 6. The category 5 rooms are on deck 7. The only difference between these rooms is the deck. I personally like to be higher up on the ship, but I've read several people stating that they like to be closer to the water. Another consideration is that there are more rooms on deck 6 than on any other deck on the ship, so there may be more hallway traffic and noise. I've never stayed on this deck, so I couldn't say whether this is really a problem or not.

Another verandah idea is category 7, if your party has 3 or less. These are the semi-enclosed verandahs. I actually prefer these, and my first choice is a cat. 7 on deck 7.

Also, any category 5 or 6 room which is aft of the category 7 rooms will have a solid metal railing, rather than the see-through plexiglass railings which most of these rooms have. On deck 5, these are rooms 5142/5642 and aft; on deck 6, rooms 6144/6644 and aft; and on deck 7, rooms 7130/7630 and aft.

We were in cabin 6590 on our 4 day Wonder cruise in Nov. We had a great verandah and like being a little closer to the water to watch for dolphins and flying fish. ( we didnt see any off our verandah but on our last night there were some on the other side of the ship that we saw). We did not hear any traffic noise and we were also across from a laundry room but did not hear anything. I think that you will be happy with whatever you choose. Have fun.

We were in 6598 in January- deck 6 just about midship and it was a great location. We didn't notice any noise from the hallways. In Oct we were on deck 5- the last cat 6 before the cat 7's. We enjoyed this deck also- we were very close to the elevators.

On decks 5 & 6 you are kind of in the middle of of the restaraunts on deck 3 and pools on deck 9.

Barb, go to dave's site and the Frequently Asked Questions section to get some great info about stuff you need to know!

The following link will take you to a comparison and description of the different categories. Click this:http://www.dcltribute.com/faq/category_descriptions.htm

Categories 5 & 6 are exactly the same, just on different decks so personally I would go for the cheaper of the 2. Also, remember some verandas have solid metal and some have obstructions....you kind find a chart describing these things on Dave's site too.

Good luck!!!

I'm so glad you're booking the cruise for next year!

Our family is going in September which is really value season and quite cheap...something to consider if your dates are flexible.

We have been on deck six, four different times; twice with verandah (category six) and twice with category 11, inside stateroom. we have been in the middle and at both ends, and all were great rooms. we always request this deck. However, we now prefer the inside stateroom because we don't like crawling over the bed to get to the living area and verandah, you save money and still are on the same deck, and it is much darker for sleeping in! We like the bed in the back with the sitting area as you come in the door; it was more comforatable for us. Barb
