Looking for opinions on which day people would think would be least crowded to do MK. I want at least one night time at MK, so the choices would be Sept. 30 (Sat.) open till 11pm with 2 showings of Spectro, or Oct 1 (Sun.), EMH, open to midnight, one showing of Spectro., and the kickoff of the new celebration.

I would tend to think Sat. may be slightly less crowded, but not sure on that. Does the 2 showings of Spectro and the fact that it's a Saturday draw less crowds than an EMH night and the first day of a new celebration?

I'd definitely go with Saturday. I've heard horror stories about EMH in the MK. I'll be there at the same time and I'm going Saturday night instead of Sunday.

We went to EMH at MK in early June (no choice of other days) and it was very crowded. We went there early and left in the middle of the day, thankfully because the crowds were horrible. Luckily it rained in the evening and that drove some people away. We did use the EMH but it wouldn't have been a big deal if we didn't. I would absolutely avoid an EMH day at MK, if possible.

If you don't care about seeing Spectro, its a great time to walk on many of the rides. The second show was far less crowded than the first.

I wouldn't want to be there for the start of the new celebration, but that's just me. I don't like crowds.

I don't know if your interested or not but I joined TGMike for this very question. I haven't been yet but have found his site to be worth the $18. He will not only tell you what days are good to go but which ones to avoid and he gives reasons why. I like knowing the why part. Have a great trip!!

I agree that Tuesday would be less crowded, but not an option. I was trying to decide between Saturday and Sunday. My plan had been Saturday, so I think I will leave it be.

Speaking of the Touringplans site, I have to wonder about some of that... I know I've been at MK on both Thursday and Saturday, and you couldn't convince me that there are less people there on Saturday like that chart says :confused3

IMO avoid evening EMH. It seems that every resort guest with a park hopper shows up and it can be very miserable. If I were you I would plan on going Sat Evening. After the first Spectro Parade and Wishes, there is a mass exodus out of the park. You will find things will quiet down quite a bit and it may even feel you have the park to yourself in some areas.

Have a great trip! :wizard:

If I had to chose between Sat and Sun I'd definitely go with Sat. Why? The parade and fireworks!

To restate 2 previous posters.... there are lots of web sites and books that have this info. Most can be viewed for under $20. touringplans, TGM, the UG, Ridemax, etc. I got a ton of good info from these boards, but I would advise getting info from another source as well. Plus it's fun reading!

I don't doubt there's good info there, but I can barely find time for a few minutes of the DIS during the day (with that pesky job getting in the way and all  ) I'd probably research them a bit more if I was going at a more busy time of the year, or if I hadn't been there for a long time, but I'm really not too worried about it - I was there at the same time last year, with free dining, and did EMH in the evenings. It was crowded, but not unbearable Spectro seemed more crowded to me, but who knows what this year will bring? :confused3 I would guess that the first day of the celebration may bring additional folks into the MK, hoping they'll be picked for something. I'm pretty sure both days will be crowded, but Saturday will probably be the less of the two. thanks for the opinions everyone.

I understand. I am an avid reader so I bounce back and forth between WDW guides and regualr books.
Anyway good luck with your plans. And have a great trip.
