Which day to start trip for view request

Hi. We're planning on staying at the CR Atrium club checking in either the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 26th) or on Monday the next day.

I would love to get a MK view and have requested it, but it can't be guaranteed. Do you think there will be more room turnover on Sunday after Thanksgiving and a better chance we'll get our view request? Or will a lot of people be leaving the next day?

Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would wait until Monday...

the traffic - planes or driving can be so heavy on that Sunday.

I went once on that Sunday a couple of years ago - I sat on I10(about 1 exist from I75) around 3 hours waiting to get on I75.... the police were there to warn people to go slow.... I asked about a wreck - told it was just traffic...... :rotfl:

I would avoid this. the planes were almost as bad....

We went to WDW the Sunday after Thanksgiving Day last year and were able to get into our room at BCV without waiting. Most folks are going to be checking out on that Sunday so you should have a pretty good chance of getting the room view that you want. And if you don't, you can always call and request to change rooms later in your stay if the view you wants becomes available.

I'll will add this, though. The crowds were VERY large that Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving and I asked a CM at MK if this was normal (we're used to the crowds the 1st and 2nd week of Dec.). He said, "No, but I'm figuring that by Tuesday of this week the crowds will thin substantially."

Have a great trip.

As someone who had given this same question thought for the exact same days (different hotel) here is what I have considered:

1. Why not ask IPO at the Contemporary as they might have a feeling on the best day?

2. Sunday is the start of value season, but I think that it being a crazy day to fly might deter people and they could arrive on Monday.

3. Some folks might stick around for MVMCP on Monday night and check out on Tuesday.

So since this doesn't really answer your question, but gives you more to think about I will tell you what I did. I decided to skip concierge since they could not guarantee MK view and secure the regular MK view since that was what was most important to my kids (we have had it before and it is awesome). Concierge was mainly for my husband and this is a trip about the kids so that is how I came to my conclusion. Good luck.

We have arrived at WDW several times on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Everybody is checking out (it seems) on that day. We were upgraded to water view at the BC one year. It is harder to get an early check-in though as so many people are leaving. I would also vote for Sunday!

Checking back with the CM several times a day on planned checkouts can't hurt. Just use plenty of sugar. :teeth:

Good luck!

If you are flying, I would also keep in mind that the airfare is significantly higher on that Sunday and it's an extremely busy travel day both on the roads and in the air. I think you'll be increasing your chances of an MK view by arriving on Sunday, but it will most likely cost you a lot more in patience and airfare.

You've all given me a lot to think about. I'll have to decide what's most important to us. I guess it depends a lot on our mode of travel and when we decide to arrive in the area. I already dislike flying--more hassel in that area may be more than I can stand.

Thanks, you guys. :sunny:
