Been on both a number of times. Disney really doesn't do in your face themes. Yes a Halloween tree in the lobby or the Christmas tree. I like the MerryTime beginning around the 15th of November. It takes about a week to get the large gingerbread house in the lobby built. Our goal has always been to get the Christmas shopping done before the cruise, because we normally come back to reality and crazy shopping which takes away from the cruise, IMHO.
Can't really go wrong with either one, but a 3 year old would have a blast with Santa. I think CC is cool in December but don't know how much you would swim at CC with a 3 year old anyway.
