Which countries do most visitors come from?

Have noticed that Disney often quiz park guests where they are from for advertising purposes etc. Has a list ever been posted as to where most people come from? At a guess listening to accents, looking at t-shirts I would guess the following top 5 -

1 - USA
2 - UK
3 - Canada
4 - Japan
5 - Brazil

good guess?

BUMP, 'cause I'm interested to find out, myself.

I'd say your guess is a pretty good one, though. It seems the number of guests from the UK has really gone up in the last few years, and they were out in full force last month when I was down there. I'm glad they love to come over here ... I love to talk with them (love all the accents), as they're mostly quite nice. I love to talk about my trip to England a few years back ... and I think they're proud to talk about their country, as well.

Just on a sidenote on the number of British and accents. I overheard a kid telling his parents he had just been speaking to some "Australians". The people in fact where from Northern England not Australia. I have heard this a number of times and I think through the media/TV etc. people get used to the "classic" English/more than likely London accent.

Funny you should say that - I quite often get asked whether I'm from Australia when visiting the states. Although I don't have a northern accent. In fact, one guy in Disneyland California asked me before I'd even opened my mouth!

I guess I shouldn't have been wearing the hat with the corks around it! LOL.

ps. sorry to all australians for stereotyping you for a quick laugh!

Speaking of "Aussies", there seemed to be a lot of them in early September the last two times we went. They always seem to have so much fun and they have great manners too!

I would guess:

1) USA
2) Canada
3) UK
4) Brazil? Mexico?
5) Japan?

There's probably more Canadians there than you think, since we can kind of "blend in". ;) I know the whole province of Ontario can seem to be in Florida during Spring Break time. Not too many from BC, but it's a loooong trip from the West coast!

A way to tell if someone's from Canada....if you step on our toes (accidentally, of course!) we'll apologize to YOU! :)

Oh come on - the flag on your backpack or cap gives it away.. :)

I know it's off topic, but I spent some time in the Vancouver area in the early nineties, Delta and Abbotsford to be exact. Can I just say you live in my most favourite place on earth and you are very lucky to have some of the most breathtaking scenery I've ever seen right on your doorstep. I look forward to bringing my children to BC one day.

Oh that's right...I guess wearing Roots Canada gear from head to toe can be a bit of a give away! ;)

Related to your topic, I think you're right in guessing there are a lot of UK visitors to Florida. When researching vacation home rentals, we found that a large number of them were owned by people in the UK!

We'd have to agree with how beautiful it is here! Ocean, mountains, and everything in-between! And BC loves to have visitors...it's one of our biggest industries! :)

Might shed some light on it (for Florida not WDW) -

Florida - Top International Markets by Number of Visitors (2004):

Canada 1.9 million
United Kingdom 1.5 million
Germany 265,000
Venezuela 224,000
Mexico 207,000
Colombia 203,000
Brazil 167,000
France 122,000
Italy 113,000
Japan 82,000

Further to the English accent discussion, I live in Scotland but am from London originally. I’ve kept my English accent but DH and DS have very strong Scottish accents.

Anyway, we were chatting together in Animal Kingdom and a American lady sitting near us came up to ME and said to me how much she loved the English accent and what a ‘beautiful voice I had! Never said a word about the two Scottish accents! Naturally I went on and on about this throughout the holiday, DH and DS were very put out!

That's hilarious! :rotfl2: Personally, I LOVE all of the accents from your part of the world - English, Scottish, Irish, you name it. You don't have to tell your DH & DS, though :)

I also loved the fact I had a "Yank accent" while I was on holiday over there - usually attracted much attention.

I know one of the Downtown Disney stores has a magnetic board which has the same question on it - "where are you from?"

I believe USA and Canada were very high. I can find out the store if you like. The UK was also very high as well...

I think the store you are refering to is the Scrapbook store in DTD in the Marketplace. I recall them asking where we were from and I was proud to add another to Florida. It is amazing how many people visit Disney from other countries. Glad they are keeping a tally somewhere even it it isn't "official"

i will say that in my experience the French Canadians are the worst and rudest guests i've ever seen.

During a late Sept/Early Oct. trip we noticed lots of Norwegian guests. Lots of very blonde people! Also lots of German sounding accents. At least best I could tell since I'm from Kansas! :confused3 We also noticed lots of men in capri-pants. You don't see a lot of man-capris in Kansas!!! :goodvibes

In June we met tons of U.K. visitors. My sister told me that when she has gone in December there were tons of Italian and Asian tourists which I never noticed on either of my trips. Must really depend on the time of year.
