A silly question I know, but are there certain types of cool bags and cool boxes not allowed into the parks?? Like hard plastic or the polystyrene (??sp) boxes

cheers

Ive seen all sorts - the only thing that they ask is that you don't take in glass (for obvious reasons).

They also used to say no alcohol, although I can't remember if that has changed. I've taken cool bags and those throw away polystyrene cool boxes with no questions asked.

We have taken the soft sided cool bags before, but I couldn't remember if I had read somewhere that hard plastic and polystyrene boxes were not allowed.
We like to fill the bag with ice and out the bottles of water and coke etc into the ice, and last time had the idea that a hard box would stop leaks (as the ice melts) better than soft pastic.

we took a softsided one from the UK and it leaked everywhere, after a day of getting very damp from the leaks, we went to Walgreens and bought a US softsided cooler bag with 'guaranteed not to leak' on the label, and it was excellent and didn't leak except when it was going through the x-ray machine on the way home, I completely forgot it was full, it fell over and it turns out the zipper leaks....

Talk about embarrasing.
