Well my favorite, hands down, was this spring's Bon Jovi concert. I had no plans to attend, as I had already seen another show from this tour. But the morning of this show I checked ticket availablity....out of sheer curiosity, I swear. Found one, single 3rd row seat available at a regular ticket price. Because it's nearly impossible to ever get anywhere near their stage, I bought that sucker and went that night to the show, alone. Upon arriving, I learned that mine was an unsold seat that had been part of a VIP package. I did not get the dinner or backstage tour, but I did get my lovely, cushy folding chair to take home. Was an amazing show, my first direct interaction with the band (after 20 years of fandom) and had a blast with everyone around me.
I have lots of runners up, but I'm a fan of many lesser-known bands. Those shows are always so much fun because they are much more personal and much less expensive. Carbon Leaf, Paolo Nutini, and Scythian have been faves.

LOL
I am dying to see Green Day in concert, I have seen American Idiot on Broadway 5 times. Last Sunday Billie Joe was in the play and we were there for our anniversary. I think Dh is starting to worry that I'm about to jump on a plane to South America to see them in concert!
The crowd was crazy.
My friend who lives in NJ, sent me the article last week about how Billie Joe was going to be performing in approx. 7 performances for the Broadway show. She said, "If that isn't a reason to take a whirlwhind trip to NYC, I don't know what it is." However, I had to politely inform her that that would be the LAST reason to get me to NYC. I've seen the Broadway performances on some live shows (NY half-time game; Grammy awards, etc.) and to be frank, I hate it.
Both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are too recent to move to that format, IMO -- I would rather it go the way of The Who's "Tommy" -- with a movie first, then maybe a musical later. It's just too cheesy for me and I really dislike it. However, I am jealous you got to see him live recently -- it's been over a year for me -- sniff, sniff.
