Which concerts did you have the most fun attending?

Well my favorite, hands down, was this spring's Bon Jovi concert. I had no plans to attend, as I had already seen another show from this tour. But the morning of this show I checked ticket availablity....out of sheer curiosity, I swear. Found one, single 3rd row seat available at a regular ticket price. Because it's nearly impossible to ever get anywhere near their stage, I bought that sucker and went that night to the show, alone. Upon arriving, I learned that mine was an unsold seat that had been part of a VIP package. I did not get the dinner or backstage tour, but I did get my lovely, cushy folding chair to take home. Was an amazing show, my first direct interaction with the band (after 20 years of fandom) and had a blast with everyone around me.

I have lots of runners up, but I'm a fan of many lesser-known bands. Those shows are always so much fun because they are much more personal and much less expensive. Carbon Leaf, Paolo Nutini, and Scythian have been faves.

Bon Jovi

Goo Goo Dolls

Jimmy Buffett (though 1 concert of his was enough)

The Pointer Sisters....probably 20 years ago. Best concert EVER!!

I have seen several really great shows.

TOOL--always awesome. They just put on a great show.

Marilyn Manson--also puts on a really great show.

Devo--saw them a few times back in the 80's and to this day they have been one of my favorite concerts.

I think the most fun I had was at a club in Kalamazoo shooting pool, playing foosball and throwing back some pitchers while watching Tilt. An amazing cover band at the time (late seventies I think). They did make 1 album.

As for surprise fun, the wife and I stopped into the Jazz club at Pleasure Island one night without any planning, and were treated to David Sanborn.

Concert wise I'd have to say The Allman Brothers Band at Wings stadium back in the late seventies too.

Honorable mention to Blue Oyster Cult where I got bumped in the back, only to turn around to a knife fight.:scared1:

John Fogerty at the Houston Rodeo.

Brian Setzer with BR-549 at the Woodlands.

Two great nights!!! :yay:

Saw Cher at Caesars Palace in 1979, it was her Take me home tour. I was 16 at the time and even with all the concerts I've seen since this by far was the best!

Green Day by far!!! Their energy & constant interaction with the audience - which makes every concert different - sets them apart IMO.

Bon Jovi is a lot of fun - but I've seen them several times now and while the music is great - they don't connect with the audience like some others do.

You saw The Beatles?!

:worship::worship::worship::worship:

I agree! :worship:

Toby Keith and Toby Keith

I was drooling over your signature block first and then read this . . . :sad2: LOL

Agreed. I've seen them numerous times over the last 15 years and they put on an awesome show.

I would have too many to name -- different ones were fun for different reasons (for different times of my life), but I'm going to vote with the one that was the most recent and most special to me: PAUL MCCARTNEY. This was truly a bucket list item for me -- and to be there with my DH and kids -- who are all big Beatles and Wings fan -- just surreal. :goodvibes

I would say Jimmy Buffet by far. It's a sight to see 40,000 peopple on their feet singing "Fins".

Billy Joel puts on a great show.

Beach Boys of the 70's.

And belive it or not - Barry Manalow. My wife wanted to see him for Valentine's Day one year and I was pleasantly surprised. We saw him again in Atlantic City right after his hip surgery and had a great time. His has a wide range of styles.

Would love to see Barenaked Ladies.

Don't hate me!:flower3: I am dying to see Green Day in concert, I have seen American Idiot on Broadway 5 times. Last Sunday Billie Joe was in the play and we were there for our anniversary. I think Dh is starting to worry that I'm about to jump on a plane to South America to see them in concert!

I loved Toby long before I started listening to Green Day. Politics aside they are still two of my favorites. :lovestruc

My most "fun" concert has to be Jimmy Buffet, but not from what was happening on stage! :lmao: The crowd was crazy.

Second, Prince back in 2001.

Then, the Monkees back in the early 90s(?). We had lawn tickets, it was raining and my group was underneath a tarp singing along the whole time.

A lot of time for a "fun" concert it's the crowd and who you are with, not just the performers.

Yes, it would definitely have to be politics aside for these two since they're completely on the opposite sides of the spectrum with their political views. :rotfl: My friend who lives in NJ, sent me the article last week about how Billie Joe was going to be performing in approx. 7 performances for the Broadway show. She said, "If that isn't a reason to take a whirlwhind trip to NYC, I don't know what it is." However, I had to politely inform her that that would be the LAST reason to get me to NYC. I've seen the Broadway performances on some live shows (NY half-time game; Grammy awards, etc.) and to be frank, I hate it. :sad1: Both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are too recent to move to that format, IMO -- I would rather it go the way of The Who's "Tommy" -- with a movie first, then maybe a musical later. It's just too cheesy for me and I really dislike it. However, I am jealous you got to see him live recently -- it's been over a year for me -- sniff, sniff.

Sorry for the side bar, folks. Carry on.

To be honest, seeing bits and pieces of the show on TV give it NO justice. I think you just have to be in the theater to appreciate it. :)

Earth Wind and Fire and James Brown.. wow!

I remember seeing Patty Labelle as a teenager at the Brooklyn Fox. She was in a group called Patty Labelle and the Bluebells. She sang Danny Boy a capella and I don't remember hearing anything that beautiful before or after. :lovestruc

I also remember seeing Stevie Wonder as a young boy at the Fox, too. He played Fingertips on the harmonica and would NOT get off the stage! He was aMAZING! :cool1:

Yeah! I forgot that one... Saw them in Atlantic City. My wfe and I were dancing all night long, as was most of the crowd. :thumbsup2

OTOH, I saw patty LaBelle, and I hated it.... she seems far too self indulgent for my tastes. And I thought that as well when she was at Live Aid in 1985.

I always wanted to see Stevie Wonder...

I saw Prince from the 3rd row on the Lovesexy tour... that was special as Sheila E. was wearing a white teddy throughout the whole concert as she was on percussion. :thumbsup2:rotfl:
