Which classic wines are worth it?

Among the wines who seem to be very well liked by those who answered this thread and put on my list, I made a research and (only) three of them I found on my SAQ app (meaning they are available in my region.

Kendall Jackson Chardonnay (white) &
Zonin (Rosé)... Which are currently my first choice for white and rosé!

Wolf Blass (red) is 4th in line for red but the only red from the list that is available here.

I still have three months to give them a try...

EDIT: We're trying the Wolf Blass tonight.

Happy I got the chance to try the Wolf Blass... We did not enjoy it at all. It will become sangria by the end of the week. LOL

Oh, there's a chance I ask but I would really like to know a little bit more what to look for (or not).

The truth is, the other class of wine is probably better that the classics but I don't think we know enough about wine to make the difference.

I agree, the sommelier is going to be your best resource since none of us knows your tastes in wine, and the sommelier is going to know what questions to ask to guide you in the wines that best match your tastes. All are good wines. The only question I have is, will you drink a bottle a night? We did not buy a wine package because a bottle lasted us 2 nights. We purchased 4 bottles a la carte for a 7 day cruise. I paid more per bottle than I would have with the package, but less overall since I only bought 4 bottles instead of 7.

Alternatively, just buy a 4-bottle package on your next 7-night cruise.

This is a great example of how everybody's taste is different. Its always good to get other's opinions as to a particular wine, but in the end its up to your taste buds.

If they have that option, it would be worth pricing out to compare.

Yes, it is an option. You do not have to buy a package which matches the length of your cruise. You can buy a 3 or 4 bottle package on a 7 night cruise, or a 7 bottle package on a 4 night cruise, or however you want.

That's new since I cruised DCL. But again, look at the prices of the wines you are likely going to order ala carte first to see how they compare to the package price.

We've been doing that for at least two years now.

It's been that way since at least the fall of 2014 when I took my first cruise with DCL so I don't know when it changed. I agree to look at the prices of the wines you are likely to purchase because the package isn't always a good deal. You also get a better selection to choose from when purchasing bottles ala carte.

It's a 3 nights cruise, we picked 3 bottles. It gives us 1 bottle per night for 4 persons. I believe it is reasonable.

Worst case scenario I think we can bring it home in the end?

We have a day stay at the Hyatt because our plane leaves at 9:00 on disembarkation day. That would give us one more day to drink the remaining bottle.

can you take your bottle with you after dinner to the room and finish there?

Can anybody confirm that we can disembark with any (unopened) bottle that we did not drink at the end of the cruise?

I'm assuming you are asking about wine purchased from the package. You can bring off what you did not drink. The one consideration is the customs limits. You are permitted 1 liter of duty-free alcohol per adult 21 or older. I'm not sure that the wine purchased through the package is considered duty-free (hopefully someone else can address that), but I would assume it is since it is intended to be consumed on the cruise. The customs limit for duty-free alcohol is 2 liters from the Caribbean if one of the liters was produced in the Caribbean, but that wouldn't apply to the wine from the package since I don't believe any of the wines come from the Caribbean.

Will your room steward provide glasses and a corkscrew for wine to be drank in your stateroom?

The first time I carried on a bottle of wine, my stateroom host told me he could get me glasses but I'd have to get a corkscrew from room service. I called room service and they delivered a corkscrew along with two glasses. Since then, I have always just called room service for it.

Does anyone have a current list of the premium package wines? Just wondering if it's been updated since last June (the last one I see on disneycruiseblog)
