Maybe to you, but I love having a "fake" tree. OP, I voted for the green pine by the way. Don't care for flocked trees.

But in having a "fake" tree you can put it up as early as you want and take it down as late as you want and you don't have a dead tree in the process. :) No needles falling off as it dries out and getting stuck in the carpet. No watering daily. No trouble getting it put into the stand. No "bad side" that you have to hide against the wall. Etc. etc. And the big reason? No FIRE HAZZARD! I remember we got real trees when we were first married, but after I saw DH take it outside to throw it away and struck a match to it and it was GONE in 3 seconds flat? No more real trees to worry about catching fire.

Many good reasons for having a "fake" tree! :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you!!!! Love my fake tree!!!!

We bought a flocked tree once and had to take it back. As we were taking the branches out of the box, the flocking was EVERYWHERE! What a mess that was going to be. While I like the way they look, they are not practical at all.

We always have a real tree, but I'd go with the green one, just because the flocking could get really messy. :)

And who needs another annoying thing at Christmas time to be irritated by? :lmao:

I have real trees. They live in my yard. We work hard not to kill them.

Christmas trees are grown on farms. Their express purpose is to be cut down.

Christmas tree farms are a huge business here in WI. We have a Christmas tree farm about a mile from our house. I love driving by there in July and scoping out our next tree. :)

I'm all about forests myself but if everyone had fake trees then all of the tree farms simply wouldn't exist. I like real trees but hate the mess.

I wonder if they still sell the living trees that you can plant later? Not that those would survive in Texas...

The one thing I don't like about real trees?

For some reason they always look so much smaller when they are out in the middle of a field, surrounded by other trees waiting to be cut. Once you get them home, you realize they really aren't that small! :upsidedow:laughing:

I've had both real and fake trees and I enjoy them both for different reasons. This is our 4th year with a fake tree and I enjoy reminiscing about putting it together as a family-it has color coded branches and we all work together on it-just like I did as a kid with my dad with our old fake christmas tree. I don't regret changing from real to fake at all. Less concern about my asthma and the cat doesn't like climbing as much in the fake one. It also looks great!

OP- I prefer the green-because I don't like the idea of the flocking making a mess and I like the more traditional look. But they are both lovely! Have a great xmas!

A real tree isn't worth the ALLERGIES and the splinters and the sap and the fire hazard. We also keep our tree up much longer than a real tree would be able to survive.

Fake all the way and proud of it! :thumbsup2

Ditto....

We have forced hot air and no matter how much we water the tree, it always dries out within 2 weeks (we like to put ours up the day after Thanksgiving). Last year's real tree was such a nightmare that I'm buying the 7.5 foot unlit Virginia Pine fake tree @ Target this week :thumbsup2

If you don't have cats and there will be no draft near the tree what I've done in the past is sprinkle "snow" on the branches. You know those bags of fake snow they sell for the Christmas villages?
