I am trying to decide on which character meal I would like to book for our August trip. We went to Crystal Palace and Tusker House last time and loved them but the kids want to try something different this time. They will be almost 9 years old and do not want anything to do with princesses and will not go to Cinderella RT, 1900 Park Fare or Akershus. Cost is not a consideration as we are on the DDP. Of the choices in the poll, which do you think would be the best meal and character interaction.

Thanks for the help!

UPDATE: Have narrowed it down to Chef Mickey and Cape May. Still can't decide :(

My kids love Chef Mickey's. They ask to go several time during our trips. It seems to be hit or miss on the food being great or blah, but the the experience is just so fun.

I voted Chef Mickey but really
To me it's not about the food, but who you want to meet.

Each has some different characters..who do you or your kids want to meet most?

We LOVE Cape May Cafe breakfast, it is a must do each trip. They have great food, awesome character interaction, and the service is topnotch. Plus if you are planning on going to Epcot afterwards, it is just a short walk there, or you can take a boat over to DHS. We also really like O'hanas, so you won't go wrong there either. However, our least favorite character meal all around is Chef Mickey's. We have done both dinner and breakfast there and have been disappointed with both times, this will probably be one that we won't be going back to.

There is more variety at Cape May Cafe and the character interaction there is great BUT I do think the character interaction at O'Hana is better.

I voted for Cape May. We took my little nephew there not too long ago and loved it. Lots of character interaction and good food. The grits there are excellent and so was the bread pudding.

Enjoy!

:)

We really were not impressed by Cape May. It was more expensive than Crystal Palace or Tusker House and the food was not as good. We also found that there was a large group of people that were taking a verrrrry long time with characters so the characters took a long time to make it to us. We only ended up seeing 2 characters because we didn't feel like waiting. We much preferred the food and character interaction at Tusker House.

Wow! It's a dead heat with all 3 options. Narrowing it down to Cape May and Chef Mickey. Just not sure if one of my sons will miss not seeing Mickey if we go to Cape May. Also, one of my daughters is crazy for cooking. Chef Mickey seems appealing but I am really concerned about the food quality. Anyone been there recently?

I think that you'll find similar quality in the food at breakfast time versus at dinner. I have eaten at all three restaurants and have found that I enjoyed Ohana's breakfast the best. I do NOT like Chef Mickey's. I thought Cape May was overrated. But for breakfast, you really aren't going to find different food. So while I voted for Ohana, I would actually tell you to book the breakfast with the characters you want to see and/or which is the easiest to get to from your location.

I haven't been to Cape May so can't comment there but for me Ohana's won hands down! Chef Mickey's was fine but for me it didn't have the same magic as Ohana's (not sure why but just wasn't the same!) The character interaction at Ohana's was fantastic, especially Lilo and Stitch. I went to the ladies room at one point during breakfast there and when I came back Lilo was sitting in my seat and made a big fuss when I got back, pretending she didn't want to get up so that she could sit with my boyfriend and generally causing a fuss.
:goodvibes We also got to see Mickey there so it was perfect!

Is Mickey always at Ohana? Thought only Lilo and Stitch were there? Just want to make sure it's a fun experience for the kids but that the food is reasonably ok too.

Thanks!

I like Ohanna! Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and I believe Mickey but I will have to go look at my pictures! I loved the family style food and a beautiful view.

I know you said you've narrowed it down to either Chef Mickey or Cape May but we loved Ohana! When we went last August it was Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto. The character interaction was wonderful. I have a few great shots of Stitch messing with the girls' hats and then covering their faces when I was trying to take a picture of the three of them. :)

We have never visited any of the three for breakfast. I am taking my DD to Chef Mickey's the morning of our last day at Disney. Thought it would be a great way to round up the trip and enjoy one last experience with "the mouse" before we start our 15hr car ride venture home. :scared1:

Thanks for your post. I came on here because we were trying to decide between Chef Mickey's and Tusker House. We went to Chef Mickey's last year and enjoyed it but after seeing your post I did not know that Mickey and Pluto were at O'Hana's I saw also a photo of Minnie so maybe sometimes she is there too. Since we are staying at the Polynesian anyway it makes sense for us to eat there.

Now I have to go out and buy Lilo and Stitch so DD knows who the characters are!

I'm with the others who say, "I know you're trying to decide between Chef Mickey's and Cape May, but Ohana is great!!!"

I've been to all three, but our experience at Ohana breakfast (just a week ago - January 10) was so positive that I had to add a post. The food was good, the service was outstanding, the atmosphere was lively but relaxed. We prefer family style service to buffets - easier with kids and again, more relaxed. Nice variety of foods (breads, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, Mickey waffles and biscuits.) From our table, we had a wonderful view of the volcano pool with the castle in the distance. And the character interaction was some of the best we've seen at Disney - Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch spent a good amount of time at each table, and then Lilo participated in parade with the kids around the restaurant. It was especially convenient because we were staying at the Poly, but we'll be back next month when we're staying at BC. It's new on the top of our "repeat" list!
