My kids are ds-11, dd-9, and ds-7 and my nephew is 10. My oldest son is already, sadly, getting beyond the cartoony part of Disney. He's always been sort of a more mature, or older, soul. And my daughter is pretty much beyond the princesses :guilty: Honestly, they're growing up way too fast, but that's beside the point. My nephew is most likely, at these same stages as well.

However, I still think they'd find it sort of fun to have a sit down meal with characters coming around us and being goofy and playing around and stuff. Plus, my youngest would probably still really enjoy it. They even seem to have a way with people (or especially kids) who aren't seeming to be too into the whole "talk and interact with the characters thing". This was especially evident with Tigger at the Crystal Palace with my husband (who seems to have lost the kid inside himself). Anyway, even my husband was amused with Tigger.

What I am getting around to asking is this. With the brief description I just gave you of my children and nephew, what Character meal does everyone think would be most enjoyable for my them?

We always do atleast 1 character meal since I enjoy them and so do my little ones, now 6 and 3.
My teens are to old to get excited about a character meal but most the of characters are a lot of fun even with the older kids.
At CP when my 2 oldest was 15 and next oldest was 12 Tigger was a blast. I have the best pic of Tigger with my oldest in headlock.
I also have some great shots of Goofy clowing with them another time.

Based on ages, etc....I'd suggest either Liberty Tree Tavern or Chef Mickey's. Both have essentially the same characters, different wardrobe. You'll get Minnie, Chip & Dale, Goofy, and Pluto. At Chef Mickey's, you'll usually get Donald too.

LTT is family style--ham, turkey, flank steak, mashed pots, carrots, green beans, salad, bread, dessert. Chef Mickey's is buffet--Good....with make your own sundae bar as well as many other desserts. We've always had a great time at each. Cost is about the same.

1901 Park Fare is princesses. Crystal Palace is Pooh and gang (my dd doesn't like). Garden Grill at Epcot is ok, but characters don't seem to "play" as much.

A nice, but more laid-back character meal is breakfast at Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club. Minnie, Goofy, Chip n' Dale are there and they tend to be rather perceptive as to whether someone wants to interact or not. The atmosphere is more relaxed than Chef Mickey's -- no loud singing, no napkin waving, less frenzy. The food is very good and they provide a wide range of offerings. It's a popular character meal.

I think the food at CM's is terrible, and that alone is a good reason to not bother, especially with kids who may or may not care about characters.

I'd suggest Donald's at the AK for breakfast. The food is good and the characters are fun and it's more "boy" oriented than most of the others IMHO.

My sons are all teenagers now 13,14 & 16. While they do not get excited about the character meals, we always do 1 breakfast and they always have a good time. They probably just enjoy acting a lot sillier than normal because they are at Disney. That said we always do the Donalds Restarsouraus at AK.

Liberty Tree Tavern-Characters were the classics, came often, were great with the older kids that were dining the same time as us. The food was great, and it was a great place to just slow down and enjoy your meal after a long day at the Kingdom. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I would recommend Ohana's for the character breakfast. It is a nice setting and a comfortable what vs. the Crystal Palace and not near as loud. The food was really good and it is a quick shot on the monorail afterwards to MK or Epcot. We loved the pineapple bread and would definately go back.
