Which Character Breakfast or Dinner?

Next year we're taking my then 2 1/2 year old son to Disney. We wanted to go to a character breakfast and possibly a dinner when we go. Which are the best? (best food and atmosphere) I appreciate any help.

Our first morning in WDW we went to Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort. It was loud and lively but the food was good. They have a buffet but you can also have omelettes made to order (they did not offer this option but I read it somewhere and asked and they were very accommodating).

They feature the Napkin Dance, where Mickey and Minnie and other charactesr come out and dance around the tables and the guests twirl their napkins in the air. After the first time, even my husband, who had never been to WDW and wasn't 100 % sure a grown man should be there (except for DD), was twirling his napkin in the air - and I have the pictures to prove it. People got so relaxed that they were talking to others they didn't know at nearby tables.

We then rode the monorail afterward.

I don't know about the other character meals but I would recommend Chef Mickey's for breakfast.

We like Chef Mickey's and Cape May Buffet for breakfast. Never tried Chef Mickey for dinner.

We been to 1900 Park Fare for dinner- not a huge fan; it was very crowded and rushed and the characters were not that much fun (we went when it was villians)

We are going to try Garden Grill in Epcot next week. I have heard many good things about it from friends. Decent food; relaxed atmosphere and good character interaction. Biergarten is also good not characters but the show keeps their attention.

We LOVE dining with Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace. We've only been there for lunch, but we enjoyed it so much. The kids followed the characters in a parade around the room, and each one spent time with my girls at our table. Also, we really love breakfast at CRT, but then I have girls! I know lots of boys who have also enjoyed it, though!!

Ditto what Tink44 said! We love Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast!! Good food, fun atmosphere!

We had a great time at Chef Mickey's with my then 15 mo. old son. I'd recommend going after 10AM so its not so rushed...

ditto on chef mickeys we go every year the kids love it. the charcters stop at your table no need to get in line .

We fianlly tried the Garden Grill this past Jan and LOVED it. The food was very good. Farmer Mickey comes around to all the tables along with Pluto and one other. It is a revolving restaurant. You can see several sections of the Land while you are eating. The meal was served family style, flank steak, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoesm grilled vegis, bread, salad and dessert (pumkin cheesecake)

I had my birthday breakfast at Tony's Town Square when Crystal Palace was being refurbished in November, and the character interaction was fabulous!!!

For a quieter, more low key character experience, try the Princess Storybook breakfast at the Norwegian Akershus Restaurant in Epcot. Usually 5 of the beautiful Disney heroines will visit from table to table for pics & autographs. We saw Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Mary Poppins & Belle. They make a special fuss over little boys! The princesses vary at times.

Also, a less known but very nice character breakfast buffet is at the Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland in AK.

I've been to all of them listed here except the Princess one in Epcot. They are all so very nice, lots of fun. Make sure to do a few on your trip. Enjoy. And welcome to the DIS!!!!!!

My two picks are Crystal Palace and Garden Grille. I love them both and the character interaction is fun. Will be trying Chef Mickey's this trip.

I strongly urge you to go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Our family thinks it's simply the best! Great variety of food....very good character interaction...lots of "Disney atmosphere"...and just an amazing sight inside the Contemporary Resort with the monorail passing through. Nothing better in our opinion...although, yes, I admit it's a little noisy. (But to us, noisy is good at breakfast time...it wakes you up and gets you ready for a nice day at Magic Kingdom!)
As for character dinners....we like Liberty Tree Tavern...a Thanksgiving style dinner in MK. But, we are trying Garden Grill for the first time next month and we've read mostly very positive reviews!
