My friend is planning a trip with her kids next year and cannot decide on a character breakfast. She does not want to do a girly breakfast since this is more for her son than her daughters. We have never done a character meal, so I cannot really help her here. So in the planning phases we have it down to Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, and now Tusker House.

Please let us know the good, the bad, and the ugly about all of these places. Also if you feel something else is better let us know that too, as this is new for both of us. I know what I would choose, but it is not just my choice.

Thanks in Advance!

I think you really can't go wrong with any of those three but I'd have to say if I was to chose one again I would go with Tusker House!

We did this the last trip and the food was GREAT! The atmosphere was very relaxed and we got to see all the characters more than once. It was an early entry day also so right afterwards we hopped on the Safari (it was in the 30's believe it or not) and we were the 2nd truck out. It was the best Safari yet...the driver was so much fun and the animals were all really active...not sure if it was because it was so early or these African animals didn't know how to react to frost! ;)

The whole experience was great! IMHO:thumbsup2

We really enjoy Cape May Cafe and O'hana for character breakfasts. Since those aren't options, I voted other. We do like Tusker House, and we enjoy the characters at Chef Mickey's. But our best experiences have been at CMC and O'hana. We haven't been to Crystal Palace as were weren't into Pooh and friends.

I chose other as our favourite is Ohana and then Cape Mays and Tusker House equally, so of your list we would pick Tusker House, we do love that too.

Actually we love all character meals :rotfl:

If we could pick only one on the trip it would be Ohana

We chose other because we have enjoyed CRT the best. We've been to CRT, CM, CP and Cape May(Tusker House is scheduled for our February trip:thumbsup2) CRT is more expansive but to be able to go into the Castle and have breakfast is incredible!

Ohanas Best Friends Breakfast or Tusker House

I would have said Tusker House, until our last visit, when it made me very sick. Crystal Palace is very nice and Winnie and the gang are a lot of fun. Character interaction is good and if you make an ADR for 8:00, you can get into an empty MK ahead of rope drop. :cloud9: Cape May is good, but a hike to get to unless you are staying at on the Boardwalk or going to EPCOT for the day.

Of your list, I would say Tusker House but in general, I would go with Cape May Cafe. Also, I would avoid CM's at all cost because our last breakfast there was horrible.

I only have a DD But I often wonder why ??? There is not a character dining option a Hollywood studios offering star wars caracters Or Toy story (pixar)

HELLOOOOO WDW ??? are you listening ???
:thumbsup2

I agree. Those would be awesome. Star Wars would be great for the boys as the girls have the princess' (girls would like it too) I think Toy Story (Pixar) would be great for everyone.

That would be awesome! The character dining at Hollywood and Vine is good for the little kids, I suppose, but it would be nice if Toy Story took over too.

Our favorite character dining experience was the Crystal Palace but we're big Pooh & friends fans so that definitely added to it. I think the best buffet food variety was at Hollywood and Vine. The last time I went to Tusker House I was 13 or 14 so I don't remember much other than Pluto trying to eat my head, hehe.

Crystal Palace. We always eat there our 1st morning at MK great way to kick off vacation. Cape May is wonderful also we try and make it there each trip too.

We haven't been to CM in years, so I can't really offer an opinion on it. We have been to TH & CP recently. To me, there's no comparison. The food & character interaction were much better at TH. Maybe, we've been unlucky with CP, but we always seem to wait forever to see all the characters, then usually have to ask our server to have some of them come by so we can leave. I also don't think the food is that great. It's fine it just doesn't stand out to me as better than others. The one character breakfast we haven't tried yet is Ohana. I want to try it next.

My son and I did the Tusker House Character breakfast last Christmas and really enjoyed it. I thought the food was very good.
We are doing Cape May and Ohana this weekend, so I should have some feedback soon.

Out of these two I have only done TH and CM and though I liked CM, I liked TH better. I love the food there!!

I asked my kids which they liked better and the two older said TH and the younger said CM.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for you replies and votes. They are really appreciated. I had not thought about O'hana before and might look there too.

I chose other because I wasn't sure of the age of the little boy (not sure if he would be interested in Pooh and Friends or not), however we really do like Crystal Palace a lot for breakfast (especially before the park opens) and Tusker House is not bad either it just gets really crazy in there. We also really enjoy 1900 Park Fare Breakfast (love the Mad Hatter), Cape May Cafe (a must do each trip), and O'hana Breakfast (love interacting with Mickey and Lilo there, Stitch is o.k. but he is not one of our favorites). Our family is not big on Chef Mickey's (even though that is the Fab 5), the food was so-so, character interaction was not great, and both times we ate there our servers always forgot about us and was not very Disney like.
