Which carrier?

We are going to Disney next week and our youngest turned 2 in July. She is tiny, only about 24 pounds, but I know that will still get hot and heavy so I want to be comfy, particularly if she wants it to sleep. But I also know she won't use it much (we are bringing 2 umbrella strollers so we will only need it when our oldest needs a break from walking) and don't want to worry about it getting stolen or taking up a bunch of space....I could do an Ergo or a ring sling. Thoughts?

I brought my kids at 1 1/2 to 2 and brought a soft sling and our lightweight stroller. They would prefer to hang out in the sling and also sleep and the stroller was good for hauling stuff when no one wanted to sit. Even with two kids we only needed one stroller.
Pick the baby carrier that she uses most so that you are both used to it.

We are going in December and I just ordered the lillebaby all seasons carrier which has a zip down back with mesh to try to prevent overheating. My son is going to be nine months when we go and we use the Tula regularly but it can get steamy in there sometimes! I have read good things about the lillebaby.

The Ergo will give you more support than a ring sling, since it's a two shouldered carrier. I love ring slings, but for something I'd be using a lot with a toddler, I'd pick the Ergo. RS are better at that age for short periods of time, especially if you don't use one a lot and haven't built up your muscles to be used to wearing.

I carry my infant all day when we go (about twice a month) and we do great using our Beco Gemini (soft structured carrier similar to Ergo if you're not familiar). I love it. My son hates strollers so we're all happier with the carrier.

I thought we wouldn't be able to baby wear much at first in the parks due to the heat but we're fine. I put a cooling towel on my chest and he lays on that which really helps. He doesn't get hot with the cooling towel there and neither do I. We've been on some crazy hot days and baby wearing has been great.

Second the Lillebaby if the heat is a big concern. If it isn't I would consider a Tula toddler or a Lillebaby carry on (toddler carrier). The ergo body is far too short to carry a toddler easily in my opinion. Even a standard tula would get a lot of use for you. I wear my 26lb 22 month old every day for an hour or more. I wear him on my back in a standard Tula (I'm pregnant). We will size up to the toddler carrier by February. You will get a lot more use out of a larger carrier since your dd is already 2.

I would pick the Ergo for support at that weight. I went in July with my 9 month old and used it for all the lines (she's was 20 pounds then). She slept on it a couple of times too. It was a live saver and not really as hot as I thought. We saw the whole Star Wars show at noon in HS with her sleeping in it. This was july and front carry, you will be fine in October, specially if you do a back carry.

I use the Ergo original (when its cold out) and Performance (good for hot weather), and l prefer to hip carry my toddler unless he's sleeping. I use the back carry the least because he doesn't like not being able to easily see over my shoulders and head.

Ergo. With toddlers I always choose a two-shouldered carrier if there's any chance of wearing for an extended period of time. Even though I love RS and use them all the time.
