Which car should we drive?

I'm stuck on trying to figure out what car we should use on our 2000 mile round trip to WDW next June. The leases on both our cars are up next June...right about the time we plan on driving down. We made the drive this last June in our Ford 500. It was a bit of a squeeze for us...DH, DW, DS5, DD7, DD9...but we made it. Our options are go before we turn in the 500 and drive that car (mileage isn't an issue, we are way ahead on miles). Or we could wait until we buy a used car that is bigger...something like a minivan or suv that would better fit the growing family. I'm torn between putting the miles on a car that we would be turning in when we get back, but be less comfortable. Or taking a more comfortable car that has higher miles already and then put 2000 more on it before keeping it for four or five more years. I know that DW would rather do the more comfortable car, but it doesn't seem like the best thing to do.

I squeeze into the leased car since you are giving it back anyways. An option would be to ship a box full of stuff to the resort you are staying at to save a bit on room.

Thanks, now I just need to convince DW that is the best idea.:worship:

I thought you were going to ask if you should take the Rolls or the Bentley :rotfl: Just kidding! Happy Holidays and have a safe and comfortable trip! P.S. Naturally you should do what the DW prefers, lol.

Three kids in the back seat of a Ford Five Hundred for 1,000 miles each way? That just sounds like torture. I'd ask your kids opinions.

Here I would say go with the minivan. We only have 2 kids and can't imagine driving all the way down in our car ~giggle~ so we end up renting a minivan up here (we are from GR area) and we drive that down.

Our reasoning is...

1. we don't put the miles on our vehicles,

2. if by chance we get in an accident/fender bender.. etc our credit card will pay for the repairs and it doesn't have to come out of our pocket. (Two years in a row we brought the van back with damage... the first time a coyote ran in front of us and ended up hitting the drivers side passengers door and the 2nd time we were bumper to bumper and a big sheet of metal came flying in the air. The big SUV in front of us missed it, but it landed on our hood and flipped up.. neither time did we have to spend a dime for repairs)

3. Gives us more room. When we drive down we drive straight through, with the minivan (at least for us since we only have 2 kids) one of us can sleep on the back seat while the other drives.

I would trade it in....3 kids in the back is tough on them.

Don't be affraid to test a Ford Flex. I have heard great things about those if you can get over the looks(Kind of a love it or hate it style). They have tonnes of room though and would be a great long road trip vehicle.
