Which car rental agency in MCO will get you in your car the fastest? I have rented a cars in the airport before. The last time was about 4 years ago. It always took me close to an hour to get the car even thought there was only one person ahead of me in line. This happened more than once. Is this still the case? Are the car rental places in the airport still so slow?

Thanks for any help.

Sign up for the frequent renters program and you will get out faster. I am a member of National's Emerald Club and we go straight from the baggage claim to the Emerald Aisle. We pick out our own car and drive to the gate attendant. We show our info there and off we go. It is very slick and painless.

http://www.nationalcar.com/ They have a thing going on now where you can have the fee waived with National for thier Emerald Club program.

I am sure there are people who like some of the other car rental companies, but after standing in line at Alamo forever on two different occasions, National's EC was awesome!

if you want to be picked up and driven to your resort...go with southern elegance..they are fantastic !!!

I found Hertz to be the fastest for us. We used to use National but found taking the shuttle to offsite Hertz was quicker. The shuttle is always waiting and I have never waited more than a minute or two for it to pull out. I am driving away in less than 10 mins.

I love Hertz, but I am a Gold Member so I don't have to deal with the desk.

My second choice would be National for using thier Emerald program. I hate going to a desk!

I've had good experiences with Budget on two different occasions. They also have a program, called FastBreak, that you can sign up for on their website. You input your credit card information and your preferences and then make your reservation. Upon arrival at the airport, you bypass the counters inside the terminal and go straight to the kiosk in the garage. You show your driver's license and they point you to the car and off you go. For our trip in December, from the time we collected our baggage to the time we were driving away was MAYBE 15 minutes. They also sent me a coupon for a 2-car class upgrade in the mail when I signed up for the FastBreak service.

Drop-off at the airport was also very painless. You follow the signs in the garage to a parking area and an attendant is there to meet you with a hand-held computer. They look the car over, check the mileage and gas tank, print off a receipt and you're done.

You can get some discount codes for several rental car companies at MCO at www.mousesavers.com

Duds, I was looking on their site, but I don't see anything that waives the $50 fee. Do you have any more information on this?

Thanks,
Karen

I was looking into that this morning, and the link I followed came up with a message saying that the $50 fee waiver was no longer available. Looks like we missed out, unless someone knows different? :confused3

We have used both DOllar and National out of MCO. Both were very quick. We signed up for both the Dollar and National express programs.

The last two trips we used L&M car rental and it couldn't have been any better. While there were 15-20 people in line at the rental company next to them there was only one person in front of me. And the van we rented was clean and relatively new. Their rates were a lot lower than everyone else and the service was great.

Right now we're booked with Alamo for our May trip only because they have the best rate but I'm checking L&M every couple days hoping for a better deal.

Budget fastbreak is great at MCO - warning though that it is not available late at night so when we come in on that late flight sometimes we face a lineup at midnight (not pretty)

cheers

Is there a fee to sign up with Fastbreak, like there is with National's Emerald Club?

If you don't get a better deal at L&M, stop at their desk anyway with the alamo deal in hand. Sometimes they will honor a competitors price (but not always as I found out). It doesn't hurt to ask, you might be surprised and save a bit of wait.

Hertz #1 Gold is the fastest, IMHO, from MCO to behind the wheel in less than 10 minutes! However, sometimes their prices can be non-competitive!
When that happens, we use Enterprise. They are usually cheap - but by the time their shuttle comes, takes you to their faraway site to wait in line and finally get your car, we usually loose about an hour.
Many people here have recommended National Emerald Aisle but I have seen a few people complain about bogus damage charges with them.

I love Hertz. Took awhile to get our car but that was because there was an extra long line. Once we got up to the counter we were done in a couple of min.!

I'm another National Emerald member. I orginally found a a free membership coupon some years back in one of those entertainment books. Since it fit in with my schedule, I used it. I have never had a damage claim or cleaning charge added to my rental (though I know of one instance when they should have charged cleaning -- I had to have added ten pounds of sand to that jeep!!!). All in all, my best advice is to pick one company and stay with them. If you become a "frequent renter" you can often score free upgrades, even without asking.

If you're at all concerned with the possibility of added charges, grab your digital camera and take a few photos of the car befre driving it off the lot and a few more when you return it.

Hertz has #1 Gold or #1 Express where you can bypass the counter and go right to your car.
