Which Camera?

Hi everyone,

I need some help and advice in which camera would be best. We've been to WDW a few times now and have struggled taking some decent photos of Spectromagic, the Fireworks and general night/evening shots. Which camera would you recommend as an all-rounder. (Up to about £200). We have an Olympus mju 300 at the moment. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you

If your budget will not stand a venture into the world of dSLR (not sure of the currency conversion rate) consider a Fuji PnS. They have larger sensors than most PnS, which translates into cleaner high ISO. They make a number of compact PnS, as well as some pretty good "superzoom" PnS models. I used a Fuji S5200 (S5600 on your side of the pond) last July and was very pleased with the results, even the low light ones.

So glad you started this post because we are not too happy with our Kodak for night shots either. It is great during the day, but we took ours to Disney last summer and our night shots didn't turn out at all. We tried every mode possible!! How frustrating! We are looking at the Fuji F30. Sounds like it is great in low light! Anyone else have this camera???:confused3

Hang around here a few days and you'll find lots of people popping in, complaining about low-light performance on their PnS cameras. This is not an uncommon complaint. :)

YEKCIM speaks the truth, listen well to him. :) WDW at night is very dark and is a severe challenge to most PnS cameras. Fuji is unique in offering larger sensors in most (all?) of their cameras, and has been actively championing their sensor technology. They're still a ways from what you can get with a DSLR, but they're certainly much better than competing PnS cameras from other manufacturers.
