Which businesses supported the May 1 boycott?

I personally am boycotting those businesses who closed in support of the May 1 boycott, La Hacienda Ranch being one of them. Some co-workers and I were talking and we would like to know of some others. I believe Burger King was another. Any others to add? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a good idea. We need to be careful, though, because some businesses closed as a result of the May 1 boycott, but not in support of it.

Well, there is a strip mall near my house that was closed on May 1st. But the stores had 3ft. of water in them.

Unless you want to start growing your own produce and spinning your own cotton to sew your own clothes your boycott will be hypocritical. Produce is usually picked by illegal aliens. Clothing is made by them too.

No, not hypocritical. Unsympathetic, perhaps, but I think that's the OP's point.

I guess it's a finally a good thing I'm not that big on fresh fruits and veggies! And most of my clothes are made in Asia by underpaid children, so I guess it's okay for me to protest illegal immigration.

I don't think the OP was talking about boycotting people that HIRE illegal immigrants since that would obviously be impossible on many different levels. I believe they wanted to know which companies made it a point to shut down to support illegal immigration. I think it's a great idea. I know Goya was one of them because I saw them on the news. I never bought Goya products anyway, so there is no point in me "boycotting" them. I remember hearing about Tyson. Again....not big on freeze-dried chicken nuggets, so I never bought their stuff. I went out and shopped and ate out and didn't see anyone closed. I guess that's a good thing. :thumbsup2

Are we sure Goya and Tyson wanted to shut down? I couldn't find anything on Tyson's website that indicated that it was a voluntary action on their part -- that they supported the boycott.

That is correct. Our company division in Los Angeles had to shut down early because the protest was coming their way and they would have been stuck for goodness knows how long before they could get out and get home.

::yes:: Exactly. They should stay home and be our cheap labor, like everyone else.

I did read that Goya shut down in support and didn't make any deliveries on May 1 ... except in Florida, where it was business as usual. :confused3
