My family is getting ready to book our reservations for our Christmas trip. We are looking to do one big breakfast.

- We've eaten at Chef Mickey's and aren't crazy about it.
- We enjoyed Crystal Palace, but we want to try something new.

- I really like the idea of Tusker House, but we are thinking about doing Yak and Yeti for dinner, and we usually only do AK once per trip.

- We were settled on Kona Cafe, but I'm against it for two reasons:
1) I feel like when using a TS for breakfast, its's more worth it to do a buffet. I could EAT, and when it's all said and done - the idea of getting an omelette and a few things on the side seem to outweigh trying one thing on the menu.
2) I want to go to try the Tonga Toast. If I really want, though, we could go to Captain Cookes and get it..

- I've heard that Cape May has a "Golden Corral" feel to it. We had dinner there once and coincidentally all got sick that week. I do think it was a stomach virus and NOT Cape May, but it's tainted for us now.

- I'm considering Boma - I LOVE Boma for dinner and I think they offer the same food as Tusker House

Ideas? Recommendations?

Boma is great, no doubt.... But for me it's The Wave at the Contemporary!!! Great br-fast buffet and the cost is reasonable. Close enough to walk to M K when ypu're finished. Love The Wave!!!

We are not on DDP, so for us paying OOP makes more sense with a menu than with a buffet. Nonetheless, we are seriously considering Boma. POG and all the Bfast items we could possibly want.
For us, it will come down to if we want to be stuffed before getting in the car to drive home or not.

Boma is our favorite breakfast on property. It's incredible! However, it can be a bit of pain to get there for an early ADR if you're using WDW transportation.

The Wave at the Contemporary and Trails End at Fort Wilderness also have very good breakfast buffets. :)

We love Kona, but think Boma is the best overall breakfast on property.

Have a great time!

:goodvibes

I think Boma is probably up there as good bang for your buck, DDP wise. And I happen to really like Boma for breakfast. It's a pretty standard breakfast buffet, with a few more special items thrown in.

It's funny that you said people say Cape May is like a Golden Corral, because (1) it didn't seem that way to me, and (2) Kona felt like a Denny's to me! And along those lines, Cape May was a far better breakfast to us than Kona. Granted, we didn't order any Kona specialties, just the typical breakfast items. My omelet was pretty un-spectacular, and the potatoes were just blah. At Cape May, at least there was more to sample, and the character interaction was really good. Also, it's not jam-packed like a Crystal Palace, so it was a very comfortable place to have breakfast.

I will second PP's suggestion of the Wave. We tried it last trip with no expectations and were really impressed. Granted, it is not very special, decor-wise, and there's certainly no entertainment, but the food was really good.

We've also tried Whispering Canyon for breakfast, and it was also just ok for us.

Crystal Palace is ok, but it is just really difficult to get your food, and that kind of thing wears me out.

This trip, we're trying the Captain's Grill ....

It really depends what you're looking for. Good luck!

I will give you 3....Boma, Boma, and um, oh yeah Boma! By far the best bfst on property, and even with the dining plan we go and pay OOP for it because its just that good!

Another vote for Boma! We love their breakfast!! (and their dinner!)

I agree with the masses. LOVE Boma for breakfast & you certainly will be full! :thumbsup2
Where are you staying? You could just hop a cab one way or both instead of taking bus unless you have your own car ( if time is a consideration & it's not convienient )

I wholeheartedly agree with everything said here!

Tusker House is the best breakfast :) (when comparing buffets and characters).

We do Tusker House early to get a head start in Animal Kingdom and we make a later reservation for Yak and Yeti if we're still in the park.

I would rather have the Samoan at Kona, but the buffet at the Wave was quite good and my itty-bitty kids when through the line 3 times! Lots of variety, the option of a la carte, and very reasonable.

The only other place I've had breakfast was Akershus, which was delicious.

We love Kona but you are right its not the best bang for your buck when you are on the dining plan and thats why we just paid out of pocket for it when we went.

We have ate at Tusker House for breakfast, Cape May for breakfast and Boma for breakfast. Our favorite is Boma. It is so delicious. I think it has more options than the other two. It also has an omelet station with made to order omlets. I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

Kona is my favorite breakfast at Disney, but it's not a good value on the dining plan. When we were at Tusker House for breakfast last year, we mentioned to our server how much we were enjoying our meal, and she insisted that we had to try the Boma breakfast. She went on and on and on about the awesome breakfast at Boma. She succeeded in getting me to make a reservation for this year.

BOMA vote here! No comparison to cape may which IMO is a Golden Corral atmosphere. I feel the same about 1900 park fare. IDK I'd it's the decor or what? Either way, I can't get past it, yet I still do it for my kiddies.

Tusker was ok, we went for bfast and somehow totally missed Donald? Weird. But BOMA atmosphere and food are completely worth the $! Enjoy!
