Which all star?

Hello!!!
Okay, so we are going to WDW in March, but we don't have a room yet. We're re going to celebrate my DS's birthday. My DS, DH, and I will share a room. My DM will have another room and her DH will be joining her a few days later. OK here's the issue... My son loves music very much so ASMu is a good choice, but he also really loves Fantasia (and Toy Story, of course). He has seen Fantasia sooo many times. I've never seen a kiddo his age love and appreciate that movie so much! He's only 7 years old. Most kids bore pretty quickly with this movie. Yes, my kid is strange!! So ASMo would be a good choice too. I really don't know which to choose. I would just ask my DS but this trip will be a complete surprise. We won't tell him we're going until it's time to go to the airport! Now, my mom has chosen to stay at ASMu and has a ressie, but I could probably get her to change but if not I know the 2 resorts a close to each other. The reason she chose ASMu is because it was cheaper when she made the ressie by about $80. We'll be there for 7 nights. OK everyone...What do I do?

I would probably change to ASMo. I think if your son loves Fantasia so much, he would be thrilled staying there! I would make that memory for him in a heartbeat!

Movies is my favorite theme for the All Stars.

Also, Movies is the most recently renovated I believe, if that matters to you.

In the grand scheme of things, it's $80. I would switch.

I have stayed at All Star Sports and walked across the other two value resorts. The rooms are going to be the same in size but different theming, with not alot of difference between food courts, arcade, disney gift shop,etc., All three are going to make you feel like you are at Disney!
I did read the food court was a little bigger at Movies. Disney saw that after the first two were built the food court needed to be bigger. Don't know if that makes that much difference for me personally because we have stayed at Pop Century with a bigger Food court and All Star Sports smaller food court served the same purpose.
I have read that the bus service was better at All Star Sports , 2nd Music and worse at the Movies because of shared buses at times & that would be the order of picking up or droping off. I haven't experienced that or know if that matters. Seems like a filled bus is a filled bus. We have spent time waiting inline for buses, people with wheelchairs, no matter if it was at All Star Sports or Pop century (with own bus), or at Fort Wilderness, and people have waited on us with getting the strollers and children on board. Its just part of it!
I do remember that as soon as I saw the Music resort I immediately did not like the Rock inn section. I felt like it was more out in the parking lot. The section in the middle that overlooked the gardens and fountain & in between the two pools is probably where I would want to stay if I didn't request a room overlooking the big pool because it would be closer to lobby and would be handy to either pool. But it will not have the big disney characters in that section if that is what you want to see. I read somewhere it was the lovelier of the three resorts. Thats probably a good description of the garden area. If I stayed at music and wanted to see more disney I would ask for a room overlooking the big pool.
When I looked at the All star Movies & walked out the back of the lobby & saw the pool I remember telling my husband that this was my favorite, just because of Mickey standing over the pool, & it had Disney movie theming. But that being said, if your mom does not want to change, I don't think ones going to make a dime of a difference in your stay. I felt like I was at a Disney resort staying at the Sports and enjoyed the pool , foodcourt, disney gift shop, bus service, etc., I would think that music would even feel more that way! Hope you have a great vacation!

The previous poster raises an excellent point .. whichever you pick, its a VERY easy 3 minute walk from one to the next.. so you can certainly do a walk around, take some pictures etc without any difficulty regardless which one you pick!

Thanks everybody! We are going with ASMu. My mom found a postcard in her mail from a few weeks ago! So, she booked us rooms that are even cheaper than she had for her original price. I think my son will be happy with ASMu. I know the extra money saved will make all the grown-ups happy.

i will be making my 9th trip to wdw this summer and i enjoy staying at the value resorts. Dont spend very much time in the room or resort so it works for us. I have stayed at them all, and enjoy the movies the best. Just feel like the layout is better,, BUT in saying that, when its the busy time,, like mid summer when i will be going back again this year, i stay at the music. Seems like the transportation is better because it typically doesnt double route there. After a long hot day of 12 hours or more at the parks, i didnt care much for stopping at sports, music, and then movies before i got back to movies which occurred often.

I have no desire to ever stay at Music but I'm sure your son would love it. We've stayed at Movies and loved it! If your son loves Fantasia and Toy Story, he would definitely enjoy it. My vote is for Movies.
