Which Airports to avoid?

I am flying from Milwaukee, WI to Orlando. Which airports would you avoid having a layover at.

Some of my choices have been:
Atlanta
Ohare
Cincinnati
New York (Don't know why we would fly to New York then to Orlando)
Houston (IAH)
Cleveland

O Hare is known for its delays. NY could be a problem also for delays. ATL is very busy.

If you go with the right attitude you shouldn't have problems with any of them. I fly quite a bit and in and out of these cities with no problems.

I'd fly through Cleveland. Easy airport to navigate and not huge like some of the others.

In some cases, it depends on the airline you are flying, and the time of the year you are traveling.

I avoid Atlanta in summer; planes stack up on the runway waiting to take off, esp. if flying Delta. Many of Delta's planes cannot use the A/C until they are airborne. In the heat of an Atlanta summer, that can get ugly.

I will move heaven & earth not to change planes at O'Hare anytime b/t October and March, due to the strong possibility of weather delays. Of course, summer thunderstorms in the midwest can slow O'Hare as well; it's just not a good spot, weatherwise.

I've changed planes (within the past few years) at both Atlanta (ATL) and Cincinnati (CVG), and I prefer CVG. The airport isn't as massive as ATL and just, overall, easier to get around.

Although O'Hare can be a problem for delays due to weather, it might be a good choice because if your flight from Milwaukee to Chicago is delayed or canceled, you might be able to DRIVE to O'Hare and make your flight! I've heard of people who have done just that! Just make sure the airline knows you are doing that so they don't cancel your return. They're happy to let you do it as it means one less person screaming at them because the flight is delayed!

No matter where you connect, allow at least 1 hour (1 and 1/2 to 2 is better) to change planes. If it's less than an hour, find something else. Actually, I wouldn't do less that 1 and 1/2 hours, but that's just me.

I'd go with Cincinnati. Always had a good experience there.

I would avoid Atlanta. Every time I have had a lay over there, I have been delayed.

Today I was looking at airfare. I think I am going to do my best to go non stop on Midwest Express or NWA. I found decent priced flights for us. under $500 for 2.

Thanks everyone. And I will be avoiding Ohare and Atlanta at all costs.

Now when is my 330 days up to start getting ready to buy those tickets.
