Which Airport?

There are so many options - which does everyone think is the best for a trip to DL? I will have 2 young ones with me.

Avoid LAX at all costs. The remaining 4 are all OK. Ontario is usually too expensive for us. We thought Burbank was great in July. Next month we'll likely fly into Orange County because we'll be flying stand-by.

Being as you are from Dallas, I believe American has non-stops into Long Beach. That airport would be a piece of cake. It's only about 30 minutes from DLR. Rental cars are all onsite. Baggage claim is only a few steps from the plane. Security would likely have nearly non-existent lines. And since Boeing builds and maintains aircraft there, there's a nice big runway for easy take-offs and landings.

At Bidding for Travel I've seen some nice wins around $140 RT between DFW and LGB.

Where are you flying from? LAX or SNA (Orange County) are almost always the cheapest. SNA is closer and smaller, but LAX is really NOT bad if it's your best deal.

SNA is closest (about 20 minutes). Don't be scared off by LAX if you get the best deal there. It's actually one of the calmest big airports, except at the holidays. I used to fly in and out of there all the time for business when I lived in LA. Long Beach didn't seem that far either.

Which airport will have the cheapest airfare for Southwest?? I love to fly that airline, but have noticed that the airfares are usually double what everyone else is asking.

I also love Southwest and the price depends on what on special and where you are coming from. For me leaving out of Oakland vs San Jose is cheaper but I rather pay a little more to depart from the closer airport. That goes for arrivng. Last time they had a deal with Ontario airport so we fly into there but really prefer Orange County since its closer. Check their website and then call to see if they have other deals.

Long Beach airport would be great for you to fly into - Then I would choose Orange County (SNA) - I agree with the above mention of try to avoid LAX. It is crowded, the security lines are long (especially if you do Southwest Airlines) and they are evacuated a lot due to security violations.

Hope this helps -
