I have a family member who needs to travel for business later in the month. They can use either Outagamie County Airport (ATW) or Greenbay (GRP). Is one any better or safer than the other? :confused3

I am hoping with all of us planners, someone will have knowledge of these places.:rotfl:.

I must say its wierd to check flights that don't land in MCO. :rotfl2:

Thanks

I would suggest going to either Kayak or Orbitz and doing a flight search. There is an option to also search nearby airports which would allow for showing the times and prices for both.

We live in Green Bay. My husband travels frequently for business and uses both airports. They're both fairly small - the kind of place where you can leave our house (15 min from the airport) after 5am and make a 6am flight. Never waited more than one person to go through security. For awhile Northwest was offering big savings to advertise Appleton, so he flew that when it made a difference (about 35 min from here). If they're going to be sitting at the airport for awhile, definitely bring something because there's no food court or fancy amenities. Through security, only vending machines and restrooms - wifi you have to pay for and there's not even any kind of small gift shop. Before security there's a bar/restaurant and a small gift/cheese shop.

I just asked my husband and he said Appleton isn't much different than I described above for GB. He said there's little difference between the two and he'd make the decision based on distance to the destination (ie if you're going to Appleton, fly into there), the flight schedules that work best for you, and the cost.

Very low stress places to fly in or out of. One warning - you may end up waiting sometime at the ticket counter because a lot of the employees wear different hats there. So the person checking you in may currently be out back unloading bags from the last flight. Definitely a small operation!

If you have any specific questions, let me know and I can ask my husband. I've flown out of GB many times but not Appleton. Good luck - don't think you can really go wrong! Although most of the time when we travel as a family we end up driving the 2 hours down to Milwaukee since Air Tran and Southwest fly there and we can get much cheaper prices than GB!

I live in the area and have been to both alot. There both really safe airports in nice areas. Green bays is a bit father from the city. Outagamie County Airport is a 10 minute drive out of Appleton. Personally, I like Outagamie's better because its less busy and less stressful for me. Heres Outagame's website http://www.atwairport.com/ If you want more infromation or have spefic questions feel free to pm me. Im at these airports at least once every 3 months and currently live near one.

ATW and GRB are pretty much the same airport, different cities. I fly out of both (for work) all of the time. What specifically are you concerned about?

Thank you for your input. They are actually going into Marion, so I was looking at ATW. But someone who go often said that GRB was a safer airport. OH the confusion. :lmao: I will still look at both for the best schedule and price. Now to find a hotel.:surfweb:

Thanks again,

I don't get the "safer" comment, because all airports follow the same guidelines... :confused3 And to be 100% honest, the one and only time I saw TSA screw up in a big way was in GRB. Let a lady through with two pop cans unnoticed, but made a big deal about her 5oz bottle of lotion.

I usually travel to Wisconsin each summer....I grew up in Door County which is 40 miles from Green Bay. and although this may not be an option for you, I fly into Milwaukee, the rental cars are cheaper and the air fares are usually cheaper, but I guess it depends on which airline you use. I have found more of a variety flying into Milwaukee with airlines, fares, and times. Just a thought. It is about a 3 hour drive to Green Bay though.
