Our family has visited Disneyland many times and we have used LAX and John Wayne airports. In two weeks we will try the airport in Long Beach.

For those who have used an airport traveling to Disneyland which do you prefer and why?

Which do you avoid and why?

I forgot about Ontario Airport, sorry.

I've flown into and out of SNA, and it was great.

I've flown into ONT and I hated it. Too far away from the parks, the drive was nutty and too long. Also it was a boiling hot day that I was NOT expecting (it was December!) and I was wearing all black and my son was acting up, and the super shuttle dude was slow and decided to leave the airport then drive back into the airport, without communicating what he was doing. So those did factor into hating the airport.

I've flown out of LAX and it was totally fine. Thought it was kinda cool that I directly handed over my checked back to the guys who would xray it and send it off to the plane. The TSA people were very very nice that day, too. We'll be flying into and out of LAX on this trip, too.

ScubaD is my DH, but I'm going to respond anyways! ;) Between LAX and SNA, I most definitely prefer SNA by a long mile. It's quieter, cleaner, and closer. I'm interested in trying Long Beach. Hopefully, it will be a good experience! :goodvibes

I could only pick between LAX & LGB ~ and for me it's LGB! I hope to never fly into LAX again ~ too big, further away and expensive to get from LAX to DLR area.

We've gone through LAX, SAN and just last week LGB for the first time. WE have always thought SNA was the better airport. But after last week we have changed our mind! LGB was amazing! It took less than 15 minutes to get off the plane through the airport and get our luggage! If you fly out of LGB, I do have a word of advice. There is no place to get food after you clear security. The airport is THAT small. But after you check in and get your boarding pass, go to the Aviators cafe just up the stairs. The food is very good, you can get a cocktail and have a great view of the planes coming and going. We will always look for LGB as our first option in the future!

Im just down the street so I always drive to DL. But if I had to fly in, I would pick Long Beach. Its small and easy to get in and out of. And its almost a straight shot to DLR. LAX gives more options for times and airlines. I like that they have red eyes. John Wayne is nice too, except during rush hour. Traffic in that area is heck.

We always fly into LAX because it's less expensive to go there. For a family of 4, those savings do add up. We would prefer to fly into SNA, but that is about $50-$100 more per person. Have never tried flying into Long Beach, though would love to -- but again, it costs a little bit more to fly there.

John Wayne is my airport of choice but I also like Long Beach. I avoid LAX! Too big for me! I love the smaller airports!

We actually flown in to Burbank. Small airport, and wasn't crowded at all. It was the cheapest at the time, and the drive really wasn't bad in to DL.

John Wayne by a mile1 It's so close and never seems busy. I just got back yesterday from a quick trip to Disneyland...and can I say I LOVE the holidays at Disney! The Holiday fireworks show is my all-time favorite!

I couldn't have said it better. I 100% agree with Ballarinamom!

Long Beach rocks!

We have flown out of each of the airports and we always choose LB.

The other huge bonus is that the rental cars are so close. It is truly a no hassle airport.

And the cafe is really, really good.

We're flying into LGB for the first time...TONIGHT! In about 8 hours we will be landing there-I can't believe it!

My question is-what's the best ground transportation? We're not renting a car...had planned on a cab until I got the Birnbaum's book this week that said it's about $60 from LGB to DL, and we're staying farther down Harbor at Embassy Suites South. So, DH booked Super Shuttle (he used to drive for them). Super Shuttle annoys me with all the waiting and dropping off of other passengers but it's onlygoing to be $44 total and I can live with that $15 savings (think of the dole whips it buys!)

I'm also one of the lucky ones that get to drive to DLR (though the 5 is always a hassle!)

However, I've flown into/out of LAX and SNA (aka John Wayne, Santa Ana or Orange County, which I was told is the only airport that officially has 3 names). SNA was entirely preferable. I've heard nothing but good things about LGB, and Burbank is a nice, small airport, too. I don't think flying into Ontario would be worth it, unless there's a significant price difference (I'm talking hundreds).

As for transportation- eh, I don't know. We once took a cab from SNA to Huntington Beach, which I thought was a short distance, and it was $40-$45. The shuttle for the same distance was $50, though, and again... all those detours.

I haven't tried LGB but since airfare will only cost us 118 each RT we are going to try it out in june! Otherwise it's SNA all the way! It's small and quiet...which I really like. If we need better flight options we use LAX...but I like to have a shorter drive when we arrive...always anxious to get on property! :)

SNA...and only SNA. No matter the price.

I avoid all other airports in the area...but especially LAX.

I am an Airplane/Airport enthusiast, so I like LAX. Love spotting heavies out there:
