I have ADRs booked at Whispering Canyon and at Boma for one day of our vacation. I'll definitely need to cancel one, but can't decide which.

All other things being equal, I'd choose Boma in a heartbeat. I've never had African food before, and it sounds wonderful. But there are complicating factors:

1. The only ADR I could get for Boma was at 4:40 pm, and only for three people. When my in-laws decided to join us on the trip, I couldn't get a table for five. I have a feeling it would be bad form to show up with extra people, so if we kept the Boma ADR, we'd have to abandon the in laws for the evening.

2. I got pregnant shortly after arranging our ADRs. Though I'm done with morning sickness, I still have some pretty strong food aversions. There's a reasonable chance that no matter where we go, I'll be eating plain bread or pasta. One near-certainty is that I'll be skipping anything with chicken in it.

3. We'll be taking our 2.5 year old daughter with us. I'm not worried about the menus at the two places, as she's not a picky eater. But I hear Whispering Canyon can be very entertaining for kids.

Everyone else in our party is neutral on where we go, so the decision is up to me. Price is not an issue, because we're on the dining plan.

So, what would you do?

I like both restaurants, but all things being equal, I'd choose Boma in your situation.

Any chance you can get a better ADR?

If not, then WCC is certainly a fun choice. Just don't expect a quiet, peaceful meal. ;)

I've been to both places and they're both really good but I'd have to say cancel WCC and go to Boma. You could always keep trying to call to see if any ADR's come available for the size of your party or maybe your inlaws could see about making a seperate ADR for the same night and time at Boma and maybe could all be sat together?

We've stayed at WL and have eaten at WCC. It's okay, and can be real fun. But Boma is an eating experience. It's one of my favorite place to eat in WDW. There is no contest for me.

Boma.

I totally disagree. For some reason, I am in the minority in thinking that Boma is just so-so. I have very broad culinary experiences and enjoy trying new things, so that isn't it (in fact, their breakfast isn't any better than the local hotel/restaurant does on Sundays here...it just has a few more exotic items). Animal Kingdom is my favorite resort (and my DVC home), so it isn't the theming or the staff. We have tried it twice and will probably go again in a pinch (because that is where we stay most often), but I won't be making any special point to go there again.

On the other hand, WCC is wonderful. The staff WILL poke fun at you and the food is superb. There are games and singing and it is in a gorgeous resort. I say go to WCC with the in-laws and hit Boma next time when you aren't pregnant.

Good luck!

I agree with Boma too, phenomenal food and fun atmosphere. If you've never been to AKL it's a great place to wander around before or after dinner too.

BOMA!!! No comparison! :goodvibes

Ooooo...>please insert drooling smilie here<

I’ve eaten at both but Boma is my favorite restaurant in all of WDW. I say keep that one.

For food DEFINITELTY Boma - yummy! For entertaining the children . . . probably WCC

WCC is just average food. I mean, it's fine, but there's nothing special about it, with the exception of the skillet, you can get similar food at a dozen different places on property. The only reason to go to WCC is because you want to participate in the antics.

Boma is special. The variety of food there is astounding. If anything, the fact that you're pregnant and having food aversion issues makes me think that Boma would be the better choice for you. There are SO many choices, including typical items like prime rib and potatoes, along with kids-meal type foods, that you'll have an excellent chance of finding something you can eat and enjoy.

Thanks, all. I think I'll go with Boma and keep calling to see if we can get everyone in at a better time.
