Anybody know any graduates from West Haven High School Class of '84 in Connecticut? I'm on the 20 year reunion committee (I cannot believe I have been out of high school for 20 years) and we're looking for graduates of that class, who appear to have been flung to the far corners of the earth.

Anybody have any tips on locating people for a reunion? Especially women who have changed their names due to marriage?

:grouphug:

Did you search for all the online reunion sites? There are tons.
Classmates.com is the obvious choice for most -- they advertise everywhere. Highschoolalumni.com is another I remember. If you're a part of the committee, you should post your reunion on all that you can find. I've also come across a few old classmates when googling my school. Some people will have their HS graduating class mentioned somewhere on their personal web pages.

One of those sites had a nice reunion organizer section where you can have people RSVP and even sell tickets online.

You could also start a website and/or an ezboard (www.ezboard.com) with the name of your school and year. So... when people start realizing there's a reunion coming and they do a search, they can find YOU. I found out about my reunion on Classmates.com back before you had to pay for it. They would have never found me first.

Oh... and search for your high school's official website and talk to the webmaster there so they can either post the reunion info or link to your site.

I did a search and found www.reunion.com. Silly me, I didn't realize it brought me to your school's registration page, and now I'm registered with your school. Anyway... you have a good number of classmates there, but no reunion plan is mentioned. It's free to post, but someone would have to pay to be able to contact other classmates.

Thanks Doc! Someone else on the committe is already looking into that one and we're on classmates.com too. I'm going to try that google suggestion though!

It is hard to find the ones who have married and moved away. Try contacting their parents if they are still in town. In the Reunion invites include a list of those you couldn't find and spread the word to please contact them. Believe me, the ones who want to reunion will be there, and the ones you can't find probably wouldn't attend anyway. We have our 25th this year and my out of state friends are already bugging me if I've heard anything. I HATE going, but they all love it.

Kallison,

I actually sat with a telephone book and the yearbook last night and found 7 parents out of the 60 names on MY list who were able to help. I quickly sent out an email to the rest of the committee! I wish it were more, but it was a great start.
