:sad1: So I'm sitting here crying like a little baby. With all the hurricane after effects I found myself needing a new home for my "babies" Koda and Booda, my puppies. After loosing our only car to flooding and loosing work, etc we've been forced to try to find a new not so spacious home and since the boys are outside/inside dogs they really need a yard and since housing has been so sparse I've been unable to find a smaller house with a yard so an apartment is our only option at this point, not fit for two big dogs.
So I looked for a family who would love them just like we do and I think I found a wonderful one. They are two very kind parents and they have three very active young sons who just adore our dgos. She stays at home/home schools so I know someone will be with them most of the time. Even though with all the positives I still feel so sad....
I know the boys are better off now, but even so. :(
Anyone else had to make this hard choice and how long does it take to not feel so upset?

 Sounds like a truly wonderful situation for your dogs! At least you know they'll get lots of love and attention. I'm sure it must be so hard for you, but you did the best thing for them. I can't imagine all you're dealing with. I gave away my two horses a year after we were married and then bought a house. I, too, cried like a baby after we dropped them off.

I'm so sorry--I've had to do this but for very different reasons. When I got divorced, I let my ex keep the house because there was so much work to be done that I just couldn't do. DD and I moved to an apartment so I let my ex have our two dogs.

It was really hard for me. One had to be put to sleep not long after that (she was really old and had cancer.) The other one died just a year ago. DD still got to see her and would bring me pictures and give me progress reports.

Again, I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose your beloved pets at a very difficult time.

I haven't been on your end, but I have been on the receiving end.

We adopted our little lady (a 2 year old great dane). All I know about the woman that had her previously, is that she had a baby in the last year and didn't have the time/room for her anymore.

I stay at home. Have 4 kids. They LOVE her! She is the center of attention at our home. My DH and I have been wanting a dane for about 11 years. We did LOTS of research. She has greatly added to our family.

Be at peace with your decision. I'm sure your fur babies are lovin' it:hug:

It sounds like you did the right thing even though it was difficult.

{{HUGS}}

 You made a really hard decision that was the best for your babies. You should give yourself a big hug for that.

Thanks for all the support guys... I've been sitting here still upset can't eat, etc... ahhh funny how you can love a pet so much. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back to myself again tonight I'm missing my babies.

I never had to give up a pet for that reason. I did receive a cat once from a woman who had 2 dogs. They were horrible to the cat and she loved her dogs. The husband was a cat lover. He agreed to let me have the cat.

I told him, not to worry his cat had hit the lottery coming into my home. She sure was scared those first few days and then when she knew how much we would love her she was the best, most grateful cat we ever had.

I'm sure your babies will miss you and their home, but young children to love them will help in the transition.

I'm so very sorry for all that you have gone through. I hope things turn around and your able to have a pet once again. They give so much joy to our lives.

Take care.
