My goal was to see our first ever rope drop
. It was not to be this trip. When we did arrive, I was asked if I had a Key to the Kingdom. Well, no, but I have an Annual Pass. Sorry, but only WDW Resort guests are allowed in for the Magical Beginnings morning. Ooooh, I get it, yeah, I stayed a t a WDW resort, but my ticket is an AP. No problem go right ahead and have a great time! For the record, NO ONE asked to see my room key or any other proof that I was a resort guest.
So now what? Do we just hang here and wait for the big Park-Opening-Celebration? Or do we head on in? Leo had had enough of waiting, thank you very much, so we headed on in. Heres what we found around the Castle:
Pretty quiet, no?
I was prepared to follow Obi Bob, but he hadnt prepared us for a Magical Beginnings morning! So we just headed in and I asked what looked good to Leo. Can you guess?
Yep, my boy looooves Dumbo, and seeing Stitch take up valuable real estate made it even more appealing! We waited about 15 minutes to ride Dumbo. (For the record, I think it went down to 5 minutes shortly after park opening. Go figure.)
After that, the MK had officially opened and I went back to Obi Bobs Plan. Off to Winnie the Pooh, where there was no wait at all, BUT Leo suddenly, at the last minute, freaked out and wouldnt get on! I dragged him off though the chicken exit and tried to figure out what was wrong. It became clear very quickly: he was scared of the dark, and could see the ride was going to go into a dark place. Apparently, Soarin did him in the day before. Okay, what do you want to do now?
Leo Nothing dark.
Me: Uh-huh, almost everything in this park is dark. Do you want o see Peter Pan?
Leo: Yes!
Me: Its in the dark. How about Buzz?
Leo: Yeah!
Me: Okay, thats in the dark, too.
For the record, Im really not an unsympathetic parent, utterly devoid of compassion. Remember, we live nearby. Leos been on these rides at least 4 times in his life already. I KNOW hell be fine if he just gives it a try. So I push for Buzz, going against my liberal-tree-hugging-gun-control-instincts to promote the fact that he can shoot things on Buzz, and hes finally on board. Okay, he never actually shot anything in fact, he had a death grip on my shirt at all time, so I was forced to both shoot and steer resulting in my crappy score:
BUT, and this is key he got over his fear, and wanted to ride again! And my hopes for a fantastic day at the MK were back on track. What would we conquer next?
