where's the John Edward's thread?

Her "It's John's problem not mine" when asked about the baby is clearly the words of a woman in denial.

I think it is the words of a woman who has a terminal illness and just doesn't have the energy or desire to deal with this situation. There is probably some private agreement made that John is never to bring "It" or that situation into their house for as long as she is alive.

Let's face it, she cold financially take him to the cleaners. Even if she wills it all to their kids and puts the money into trust for them, this could literally ruin the cushy lifestyle John has set up. Depending on how long Elizabeth lives, he & his mistress just have to wait it all out, before they can start their "happy" lives together.

If you heard on the news, they say Elizabeth is staying in the mansion in Chapel Hill, NC and John is staying at the beach house in NC. Well, the beach house he is in is close to our house. We take our boat to an area right next to his house and have seen him on the docks lots of times. Once he, Elizabeth and the kids swam out around where we were. He was friendly, but she was even more so. I told my husband, I guess this summer we will see little Quinn swimming instead of the other kids! I hate all this has happened for all the children involved.

Maybe not.

Apparently, Andrew Young, who Edwards tried to pin this on, is lashing out. He calls Edwards' promise of "love and support" empty words, and is "skeptical" of Edwards' bid to portray himself as a "loving, doting father".

And to think, at one time we thought this man could be President of the United States...:sad2:

As far as his "announcement"... It comes as no surprise. I always knew that baby was his. if I was one of his children, I'd be embarrassed beyond belief...maybe the younger ones might escape some of the sordidness of this, but he has an older child as well, I believe...a daughter who is in her 20's if I am not mistaken. Can you imagione what an embarrassment this is for her?

As far as his wife is concerned...I would not want to be in her shoes. She's effectively dying...maybe not within the next month or two or even three, but, realistically, she is probably not going to live to see her younger children into their adulthood years, which means he will be raising them. So what does she do? Divorce him, uproot the kids, change their life, only to have their life changed again when she dies and they end up going back to live with him full time? Stay, with the realization that someday her husband's paramour will be raising her children as well as his "love child"??? How much sacrifice should she make for her children? And what about the lessons the children are learning from being involved in this train wreck? How does she reconcile all this? How do you teach your daughters self-esteem, self-preservation, self-confidence and self-worth so that they don't end up making the same mistake of involving themselves with and tolerating a lying cheating unethical scum because that's what they grew up with and watched their mother do???

Elizabeth Edwards is in a horrible position...I don't envy her....

:thumbsup2Great post, very insightful. I feel so sorry for her. She is a woman who has already lost a child and now she is faced with leaving her two youngest children to grow up without a mother and with father who has shown remarkably bad judgment. And then to realize that you married someone who could act so callously toward you when you were at your most vulnerable. There are no good or easy answers here.

Saying that Edwards "allowed" his son to be killed may be the ugliest thing I've ever read on the DIS, and I've been here more than 10 years. The person who posted that should be ashamed of him/herself. There's a lot wrong with John Edwards, but this isn't one of them.

Given the number of times the details of the wreck have been printed/broadcast and the fact that Elizabeth wrote a book about it, I don't know what in the world you're talking about with the "refusals to let media talk about it." We live in a country where politicians are not allowed to tell the media what to talk about it. If you're referring to individual interviews, I don't blame him for wanting that topic off the table.

I was an Edwards supporter. I saw him as a smart man with innovative ideas and the plus of knowing what it was like to be lower middle class. I was wrong because those things don't outweigh his lack of character.

The Charlotte Observer's Tommy Tomlinson has a way with words, and here's how he started his column about Edwards in today's Charlotte Observer: Jerk, cad, toad, scum, hound, slime, louse, creep, fraud, bum, sleaze, clown, skunk, worm and weasel. Have I fully captured John Edwards yet? Well, a few other words apply - complex words with multiple syllables that convey vivid images - but this is a family publication. You can fill in the blanks.

I'm sure there are more love children of politicians out there as well as mistresses....not that it makes it right, but why be so surprised?

I'm wondering too.

From what I remember, their son Wade was killed in a "freak accident" - apparently the Jeep he was driving was caught in a sudden strong gust of wind and it was swept off a mountainside?

That's really sad...........:sad1:

Wind, yes. Mountainside, no. He was on his way to the beach.

I'm waiting to see if anymore "ex mistresses" show up in the news with more children "Andrew Young" fathered.......ahem.......I mean John.
