Wheres my refund question

I just checked the IRS website again this morning, now it tells me that they found mistakes on my return and my refund has been reduced $278 - "We changed the amount of the recovery rebate credit you claimed on your tax return because the amount entered was computed incorrectly." I did my taxes with Turbo Tax so I'm not sure if this is their error or mine. Anyone else have this problem?

Ours' was reduced by $300. We realized dh put the amount in wrong though, so I'm just glad they changed it instead of something more embarrassing! Seeing the deposit will be the 27th was awesome though. We're getting annual passes this year!!

We used turbo tax on feb. 13th, wasn't processed till that tuesday because of president's day on the 17th. Our message was just changed to say direct deposit on the 27th, if we don't have it don't call unitl after march 4th.

Yes, I got the exact same message and I e-filed on 2/18 :cool1:

I didn't efile but initially the site said it would be mailed by Feb 27 and received by March 6. Now it says mailed out March 6 and received by April 3. Sucks, good thing I don't need the money for anything. it's just going into savings.

jc040404 - Glad I'm not the only one that seems to have math deficiencies! I like your thinking of using the refund for AP's... hmmm.... ;)

YEAH!! The IRS site said that it would be deposited 2/25. All the posts kept reading that Direct Deposit would only happen on Fridays, but mine was there today! Paid off our carpeting.

I did ours with Turbo Tax and I have the same message that they found an error. Our refund was reduced by the $300 amount also. But the good news is it should be deposited on the 27th! I know I followed every prompt given by Turbo Tax but, as someone else said, I'd rather they catch it now than later when it could be very embarrassing. I think it is hard for all these sites to keep up with all he changes.

That is so strange, I did mine with turbo tax and at the time they asked what the stumlus check was it came up automatically and I just kept what they said in the slot. On a side note, we got less than what was expected for the stimulus check last year, weren't they to make that up at some point this year?

I would think Turbo Tax should know what rebate you got since they know your income, dependents, etc. It's not like it's just a random number, it's based on your income and dependents. For example ours was $600 for me, $600 for spouse and $300 for one dependent for a total of $1500. If I entered anything other than that, I would think they should have caught it since all that information is entered into the program. I'm waiting to hear back from Turbo Tax on why their software didn't catch it. I'm not counting on getting much of an explanation though.

Yay! I just checked to see if they changed anything else on me. It says my refund is scheduled to be direct deposit tomorrow but if I don't receive it by March 4th to call the bank and find out if they received it. I really do hope its there tomorrow I have bills that I really want to pay off.

They had told us at first that ours would be deposited by the 13th of February, but if we had not received it by the 17th to call back. You guessed it: the 17th rolled around and no refund. So I called back. Finally got a real person on the phone (after being on hold for about 30 min.) who told me they had changed it and it would be deposited on the 20th. Mind you, I e-filed on the 1st! I asked the reason for the delay: if they had found errors, etc. "No," she said, "No errors." So I asked her why. All she could say was, "Well, sometimes we get behind." Indeed.

We put a chunk of ours in an account for our WDW trip. How many of you are using your tax refund (or part of it) for a WDW trip? Just curious.

Yea, mine was finally deposited today!

My money is staying in the bank for now. Unfortunately, things aren't so good at home and I may need it later on to get me by :-(

Yeah, it is finally there! Not to bad two weeks and a holiday in between. Since my dauhter split my flip phone into two pieces yesterday, I know right where it is going.

Mine was actually there Wednesday night. They don't only deposit on Friday's, that is a myth. I can finally stop worrying so much. It is nice to have the extra cushion again. Hopefully it can stay there for a while.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Diane

The website said mine was due March 3 but it was deposited last night (Feb 26) which was a nice surprise...

Mine also was to be deposited on the 3rd of March. I went to the bank today and it is already there.

To bad half of it goes toward paying my state taxes.:sad2:

We filed electronically on 2/28. We received the state (MA) refund within 3 days I think. It was direct deposit.

We also chose direct deposit for federal refund. At first the irs site said to expect the refund by March 17th. A couple of days ago it changed to say expect your refund by March 24th. My brother, who filed 3 hours before us on the 28th, had his federal return direct deposited yesterday.

I wonder why the date changed for us?

Ours has said by March 31st. It's said that for about 10 days. Anyone else waiting for that time frame?

I'm noticing a lot of posters with dates of 17th and 24th. Those are all Tuesdays... anyone figure out the significance of this?
