Where would you want to have your first ever WDW meal?

Chef Mickey's- the atmosphere and characters sets the tone(sp?) for the whole Disney trip!!! It's awesome, we go there for every trip as our first meal.

Oddly when you asked this question I immediately thought of Crystal Palace. It's odd because for me it's not a 'must do' every single trip.

I don't think that they have great food, BUT they have nice characters, good enough food and are in the Magic Kingdom in the shadow of the castle.

We are really looking forward to Yachtsman Steakhouse on our first night. After a long drive and eating fast food to get there the Yachtsman sounds perfect for us! Plus I like wondering around the boardwalk after and looking around. It helps set the tone for us!

Which characters appear at Chef Mickeys?

I am planning my very first WDW trip, and even though DH and I have no children yet, I think a character meal may be fun.

For those who have attended buffets, are they busy? I am kind of grossed out by buffets in general, but I feel like Disney might have enough volume where the items aren't sitting out forever, and getting god knows what fingers put in them!

Is there a non buffet Character meal other than the CRT?

Well we just took our first ever WDW vacation and we started off with Ohana's and that is what it will be for many years to come. We loved it and we had a view of the castle at night and it was just great way to start our week at Disney

Chef Mickey's characters on Sat morning were Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald. All food was very fresh and plentiful. I don't think anything at Disney sits out forever.

Chef Mickey's for the atmosphere and just disney spirit. Rose and Crown for Illuminations in Epcot, did this a few trips back and it was soooo good and awesome to watch illuminations right there on the patio our first night

We liked the character dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern-which as a matter of fact, was our first table service restraunt at WDW come to think of it!

My girls' birthday are 3 days apart so we went one of the days in between to eat. We had no reservations-we just walked in and I whispered a request to have someone sing Happy Birthday. We had no idea what they could do with NO preparation but our 10 minute waiting time.

The characters made a HUGE deal out of their birthdays, put shiny Mickey confetti all over the table and streamers around the chairs, brought out birthday cupcakes with candles, sang Happy Birthday, all of them signed their autograph books, and they even brought my youngest a special box to put her tooth in (lost her first tooth at Disney). The food was fantastic and is was overall a wonderful evening. Okay.......I just teared up typing this-what a dink.

But if I had to pick only one, it would be San Angel Inn in Mexico. We love the market, food, boat ride (before they "improved" it), mariachi band, and of course the food.

Then again, keep in mind we've never eaten at any of the resorts and I grew up in Mexico and Arizona so that's bound to have a lot of influence on my pick.

Our last two trips it was Chef Mickeys for a good dose of the "mouse" and for fun.

This trip our first meal will be at Le Cellier since it will just be me, dh and the girls...the rest of the family is coming in on a later flight.

We started our honeymoon back in 2000 with dinner at California Grill. I can't imagine a more magical way we could have started that trip! It was our first trip to WDW together...DH's first trip since high school and my first trip since middle school. The only bad thing is that we returned for dinner at California Grill three years later and it was only "okay." We enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but that magic wasn't there. Not sure if it will ever be that magical again. So I think we essentially ruined California Grill! LOL!

Our first trip with DS we started with an early, before-the-park-opens, breakfast at Crystal Palace. That was fun!

what a question! depends on the person - age, likes, etc but the california grill is great food and fireworks in an "original" hotel...biergarten, boma, kona...are are favorites

We absolutely loved Liberty Tree Tavern. I know they are no longer going to be a character dining, but really the food is sooooo good there, service was amazing this past trip, and it's right there in Magic Kingdom. That is really nice since it is already a long day by the time you are finally there in the World!

Our first meal dec 2006 was chef mickeys in the am to start our first day off right. Ourkids were 22 months and 4.5 years.) If we did not live on the west coast and could arrive for dinner I would do Ohanas. A ressie to see the boat electrical parade and fireworks. Grat for family.

( guess we were dumb booties ( better tha the other word I would have used ) and we stayed at the poly and did not hit Konas.
