Where would you stay?

I say the Contemporary. For me that place screams Disney World.

We stayed there when the kids were 7 and 2. it was so convenient to get to the MK.

We had an 11th floor tower MK view room and it was the greatest. Two years later, DS still comments how much he loved our room.

The pool stinks, but in Jan, you probably won't be doing much swimming anyhow.

Just remember that some of the rooms at the CR do not have balconies (the out buildings) also getting back to the Wilderness Campground from the poly or GF requires you to go to a park first. There is a boat from the WL to the CR but I dont know if it goes to the Campground. It is very close from the WL to the camground (walking distance). Hope you have a great time.:)

After reading these comments, I think our decision will be between the GF & Poly. I'm still really torn though... the cost is not very different, nor is the location. Are the rooms comparable in size? Have they been renovated remodeled recently? Is there something I am missing?

The Poly was just renovated in 2007, so all of the rooms there are nicely redone. Some of the longhouses have slightly bigger rooms than others...google Tikiman and check out his site...he has lots of great Poly information.

I just feel that the Poly is more kid-friendly...great restaurants, awesome pool with zreo entry area, slide, beach, etc. It's been a while since I've actually stayed at the GF, but it just feels mor stuffy to me. i just feel so relaxed at the Poly.

You are right, location and cost for the most part is very similar. I'd just go with whichever has the theming that appeals more to you. You will have excellent service at each and will even share busses at many times of the year, so really, just go with your gut as to which theme appeals most to you.

I'm not too sure why your DH thinks the GF is "more convenient" than the Poly? Maybe because it is only one monorail stop from the MK? Actually, I believe the Poly has a far superior location and here's why. The Poly is directly adjacent (easy walking distance) to the TTC, which gives you much easier access to all other locations besides MK, especially Epcot. And the Poly is only one monorail stop (maybe 3 minutes) further go to MK, or one boat stop (maybe 7 minutes of beautiful boat ride) further going either way.

Choose between these two based on the theme you prefer. They are equally kid-friendly, IMO.
