We are going to be a group of 8, ages 51,51,27,26,26,25,21,20. If you were me where would you rather stay. I own at SSR so I would try to make ressies for a treehouse first then maybe switch to either a 2 bed-room at AKL (I think the kids would like the pool table ) or the beach club. The vacation will be taken place the end of the summer. I have been to all three resorts but not sure about the young people. What is your opinion? Thanks.

Since your party is 8 adults, I'd go with the largest units with the most bathrooms.

The kids are old enough to travel alone on the Disney transportation system, so I think living comfort is most important. All the resorts have something special to offer.

Grand Villas would be my first choice if I could afford one. SSR, BWV, OKW, AKV & BLT all have those and all are great places.

If you have to go with a 2 bedroom, I'd only consider BLT, AKV & the THV at SSR.

Not sure what you mean about the pool table at AKV - aren't those in the Grand Villa or is there one in a community area?

I'd go with Beach Club, there's so much to do in that Boardwalk/Beach Club/Epcot area that's in easy walking distance from the room, if I were in my 20's I'd definitely want to be there.

I would go with AKL Kidani Village. The extra bathroom in the 1 and two bedrooms will make all the difference when getting ready in the morning. THis is something SSR ang BCV cannot offer.

Oh silly me you are right. I was thinking of trying for a grand villa but then we could only stay 5 nights. (not enough points.) I'm think we would rather stay the extra nights and book a smaller room. Before we bought into DVC we camped with the family in a pop-up so just having a in-door bathroom is a plus for my kids. LOL

this is what I was thinking is it hard to get a two bedroom at 7 months out the end of the summer?

I had a similar situation. I was planning for 9 (now7). We booked a Treehouse Villa at 11 months then planned to switch for something bigger at 7 months. When we thought we were a party of 9, we were going to first try for an OKW GV just in case it was available. When 2 members of the other family backed out, we decided to book a 2 BR at a resort with an extra bathroom (BLT or AKV Kidani) even though we do want to try the Treehouses someday. We called at exactly 7 months and got our first choice of BLT Lake View.

If I were the 21 and 20 yr olds, I'd resent having to sleep on the bunk beds.

I'd go with a two bedroom and a studio at OKW. More space, more beds and larger beds. No bunk beds.

Or at the minimum, a two bedroom and a studio anywhere. Eight adults in a two bedroom villa is just too crowded for me.

I agree 100%. Everyone will have easy walking access to nightlife of all kinds for all ages. You can't beat the pool--something for everyone!

I love all the DVC and every trip is special for different reasons. I am sure your group will be happy no matter where they stay!

I would go with AKV, a 2 bedroom there would have 3 baths, and a sleeper chair as well as the pull out in the living room. I would go for a dedicated with 2 Qs in the second bedroom. When I book for my family/friends, I go for sleeping arrangements as my first consideration. Sometimes I am overruled by friends who want "location" but with 8 adults, I wouldn't even mention the other, I would pick AKV for in room comfort.

I also recommend BCV. The location especially for kids in their twenties is great. At night they can walk over to the boardwalk and enjoy ESPN and jellyrolls. The extra room of the other places might be nice, but if you ask the young adults I'm sure they would pick a location with more activities. If your booking a THV, that would be nice for them to head to DD at night too.

BCV rooms are sometimes tough to get, since the resort is so small -- but I've never had a hard time getting what I want at 7 months out, especially if I'm slightly flexible when choosing dates. If you can't get BCV, and you want to stay in the area, Boardwalk is a good alternative! Good luck!

I also vote for AKL Kidani. Three bathrooms in a two bedroom will be very much appreciated by your guests. As, the PP mentioned, the 2 beds at BCV can be difficult to get and if you don't end up with a dedicated two bedroom at BCV, then you have two more people on a sleep sofa.

A dedicated two bedroom at Kidani will get you a king bed in the master, 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom, plus a queen sleep sofa and a sleeper chair in the living room. And did I mention THREE bathrooms!!!??? :goodvibes

BCV does have a good location for some nightlife activities, but AKL is just beautiful.

We had adults in the bunk beds at THV in Sept. and they did not resent it a bit. It was Disney and they were thrilled to be there. As adults, they realized that the configuration of the rooms and the beds within was not in our control and they were very grateful to have a bed and not have to sleep on the floor! In Disney we become kids again....so sleeping in bunk beds is appropriate!:goodvibes

I would try and stay in the epcot area.....BCV or BWV would be my 1st choice. I like BWV better....but if the slide is WAY better at BCV.

Happy planning.

That's what I would do also, if I couldn't afford the points for a GV.

I TOTALLY agree! My 22 year old son and his best friend went to Disney with my parents (75 ad 70) and I last year. The boys shared one of the queen beds as neither wanted to sleep on the sofa sleeper (my Dad is a very early riser and the boys were at DD very late and wanted to sleep in) and even commented that "it's fine Mom, we're at Disney and YOU'RE paying for the room":lmao:

Go for the THV. If for no other reason than having 8 adults can get very noisy and you'll be glad to have your own "house" for the occasion. Plus you can go cheap and have a backyard BBQ on the deck.

Another vote for the THV, we had 8 adults and 1 child in them and love the space. The adults did fine on the bunk beds. Plus the young adults are close to DTD. My kids in that age group loved it last Nov.

Next choice would be a dedicated 2 bdrm at AKV Kidani. The third bathroom was nice to have.
