Where would you stay with 3 young children?

Well I just got back form 6 wonderful nights at WL and am already looking at next years trip. My question is dd#3 will be 3 next year and I am not sure where to stay? We loved WL but if we have to get a deluxe room next year it will be a bit pricey for us. I have looked at a few moderate hotles but I am just not sure. I do not want to get 2 rooms and have them not be connected and than dh and I have to stay in seperate rooms for the whole trip. Our girls will be 7, 5, & 3 so there is no way we would have them stay in a room by themselves. $500 a night just seams a bit much specially since we are planning on taking a 14 day trip. We do want to stay on property so where would you go? What room(s) would you get?

TIA

I would reccomend looking in to DVC and either buying in or renting points forom another member you could get a 1 or 2 bedroom villa and also if you plan on traveling to disney year through year i would reccomend dvc for you can save for next years trip easily

Well, there are plenty of deluxe resorts at WDW that sleep 5 in a room (2 queen beds plus a day bed)

Contemporary Resort
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Beach Club/Yacht Club
Boardwalk

Plus, you have all the DVC villas as an option. You can book those directly through WDW.

The deluxe resorts run around $325/night in the value season, for a standard room. Of the above, the Epcot resorts are cheaper, followed by the CR, Poly, and GF, in that order .

Another option in a moderate is Port Orleans Riverside, Alligator Bayou section. A number of the rooms there come with a trundle that is perfectly sized for smaller sleepers.

We were in this same dilemma. After staying at WL and loving it, we could not longer all fit in one room there and had to upgrade.

If you want WL, you could do one of their junior suites (comes with concierge access). You could do DVC or the rooms which sleep 5 at POR. We opted for the Poly which was cheaper than WL's suites. Now we're in love with Poly and likely won't go elsewhere.

Disney fails miserably providing 3+ children family accomodations at a moderate price.

There are new family suites that are less than a Deluxe at the All Stars, that's one option. I'm not sure how hard they are to book, as there aren't many available for what I think is a HUGE market of people like yourself.

Another is to rent DVC points. The catch is, you really can't stay on Friday or Saturday nights, or it's not cost effective, and the layout of the one bedrooms may still leave you with issues finding places for your 3 kids to sleep. I'm not even sure a one bedroom sleeps 5? The two bedrooms are way expensive, even via renting points.

Another option is to rent a house or condo off property. I know that's a big jump for some people, but I actually enjoy taking a break from the Mouse in the "real" world, and when I can get a four bedroom house with its own pool and hot tub for $200 a night, and compare that to Disney's prices, that makes the deal seeker in me verrry happy. :woohoo: Try vrbo.com to rent directly from owners.

I would check into the deluxe resorts on the monorail...just seems easier and they sleep 5.

I think the DVC's allow 4 plus one child 3 or under in the 1 BR's and you would have a ton of space....we are DVC members so go that route often, but if you rent points a Friday or Sat night stay is quite costly...so we always move for the weekend when we are atying 2 weeks...it is a nive chance to check out one of the hotels for a couple of nights and then we move back to the DVC for the following week (Sunday through Friday).

Depending on the season you go you could rent points for a 1 BR at OKW for as low as $180 - 200/night (and that includes tax)

Just a thought

What about the cabins at Fort Wilderness. We love them. There is room for at least 6. It is a one bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds. We went with our 3 year old this year. It was really nice to make meals. It was quiet for nap time and there was many fun things to do other then the parks. We were able to keep him on his schedule too.

Thank you for all your advice. I am going to look more into all of your suggestions.
DH and I were thinking of joining DVC but I am just not really sure if we can swing it right now. If I would have looked into this last year when we would have been able to buy in with cash we probably would have but this year is a different story.

How could I find out about renting points from owners? Would that be a better deal than just renting form WDW?

I would recommend the Polynesian. We had a Water view booked and then switched to a Garden View Concierge for less $$ and my kids LOVED it (they were 7, 5, 2). They still ask when they're going back to the lounge!

We now have 4 kids, so we won't be staying at the Polynesian in 2 rooms any time soon, although I want to again! With a family of 6 (+ a wonderful Mom that likes to come with us!), we've gone the DVC route and bought in. DVC is great also, but there is really something special about the Polynesian!

There is a specific spot on the board for this. Look under the DVC forum-Rent/Transfer points. Also, if you are interested in buying, you can also purchase a resale, it can be cheaper.

Renting points directly from the owners is much cheaper than bookibg through Disney. You can look on the rent/trade board on DVC forums. Just be careful to find someone who is established or who you can trust when renting points. I have never rented points but there is alot of info on that forum from those who have.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness are only about $250 per night and sleep 6 plus a baby. As someone mentioned, there is a full bed and a set of bunk beds in a bedroom, plus a full size murphy bed in the living room so you can put the kids to bed and you can stay up w/o disturbing them. Also the full kitchen with maid service is nice.
