We are driving to WDW from Brandon Manitoba in August - we have to meet up with hubby's daughter and her family who are driving from Hamilton Ontario. Does anyone have any input/suggestions on where we should meet? We have to return to Hamilton after the vacation in Orlando but step-daughter offered to drive down to meet us in the U.S. to shorten our journey to Orlando....otherwise we would have to drive from Brandon to Hamilton to Orlando.....

I was thinking Toledo Ohio - that would take her 4 hours to drive to from Hamilton. Do those of you driving experts from Ontario know if Toledo would be a good spot? I was thinking we could leave her vehicle in some sort of long-term parking lot at an Amtrak station or airport....or a hotel?

Any ideas?:confused3

I am not a driving down from ON expert, but I did grow up in Ohio. The airport is not very large in Toledo and since security is tightened and they will know you did not use the airport (from the cameras) I would wonder if TSA would decide to do something to my car... similar thing with Amtrak too.

I would think calling and arranging something with a hotel would be the better way to go, especially if you are going to have an overnight there before meeting the family.

Hope that helps and have a safe and fun trip! :goodvibes

Why not drive all the way to hamilton, she could leave her car at her house and you could cross at the peace bridge and drive down the 79. Its 20 hours of straight driving from here. Once you cross into canada at either ambassador bridge or bluewater bridge your only 3 hours from hamilton and you wouldnt have to worry about her car.

Well, it's basically 24 hours from Brandon to Hamilton, then 21 hours to Orlando totalling 45 hours of driving for us. If she meets us somewhere, it could cut off some of our drive - it normally takes us 36 hours to Disney and adding 9 more hours to the drive seems to be a little excessive - well worth paying to park somewhere. They can't afford to fly so I am trying to look for a reasonable solution.

HI, Which way do you drive, im assuming you come down thru the USA to get to Toledo. Would that be the way you would drive to Orlando from Brandon?
How many are coming from Hamilton? Im assuming it will be the 2 of you from Brandon? Are you going in at least a Mini Van? Once you met up with them would you be driving straight thru to Orlando with no Hotel stop? Im just asking these questions trying to figure out cost factor. We used to drive from here Niagara on the Lake which is 20 min from Hamilton.
If we dont drive we fly out of Buffalo leave vehicle there and save the drive. Its cheaper to fly out of Detroit or Buffalo on Jet Blue or Southwest. We are flying the beginning of Sept from Buffalo to Orlando $200 each both ways. Depending on what day and time of flight the price varies. We book online.
