I was just wondering where everyone would like to see a new DVC resort? I am not a DVC (yet) but I would like to see a resort in the Bahamas..

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I'm not even sure how they would do this, they'd obviously have to convert something, and I'm sure it would never happen, but I was looking in to a trip to NYC for my family and noticed that none of the hotels seem very kid friendly. I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a Disney hotel in NYC. Again, like I said, probably not realistic.

I think it would be a tough sell for them.
It would have to be a full destination resort. Maybe in the West in the mountains. So skiing in winter, snowmobiling, etc
Close to a National park. An active vacation, hiking, zip lining. Wagon rides. Plenty of campfires. You get the idea.

Oh my goodness! That would be so much fun! I absolutely love NYC! This would be my vote as well :)

I'd love one in either NYC or someplace tropical in the Bahamas!

This was my thought as well and one I know my family and I would definitely check out.

South Padre Island, Texas. Nice beaches. SPI already attracts a lot of winter Texans. Close to Mexico, so it would also be a good attraction for the rich Mexicans. Close to an international airport, and Southwest Flies there!

At one time, there was talk of DVC resorts in New York (Times Square area), Beaver Creek Colorado (near Vail), and Newport Coast California. None were ever built.

The NY site is now a Westin hotel, the Beaver Creek site is now a Hyatt Vacation Club resort, and the Newport Coast site is now a Marriott Vacation Club resort.
The NY and Colorado projects were never officially announced, but the Newport Coast project was.

I like the idea in the Rockies. During the winter you have skiing and during the summer you have hiking. There is plenty to do here in Colorado year round. You could also put one in Utah.

Disney also bought, and later sold, a plot in the National Harbor development just outside of Washington DC. They only announced it as a resort hotel, but it seems likely that they might have gone mixed-use here as they did at Aulani. The Wyndham here is very popular, though I like the one in Alexandria better.

There was also the rumored Washington DC National Harbor, which Disney totally shelved. They aren't going to build unless they think they can sell the points in a reasonable time. After the long sell at HH, VB (even after scaling back) and Aulani, I don't see it happening. They can command a premium price at WDW because of the parks. Elsewhere, it's difficult.

SPI has a water park, Schlitterbahn. It's also close to outlet malls, and for those more adventurous, a day trip across the border shopping is only 30 minutes away.
