Where would you go?

We will be arriving on a Thursday (In Jan) around 2:00 p.m .
My question is... should we try to get a few hours in at a park that day?
We will be at MK all day on Friday, but should we try either Epcot or MGM for a few hours? Or just do other "Orlando" activities and not use on of our days tickets?

How long are you going for? The reason I ask is there comes a point were an extra day is $3 per person. Though there is plenty to do without the parks, I find it hard on the kids to arrive that early in the day and not hit a park. At $3 for the day, you can easily get your monies worth

I think it does depend on what type of tickets do you have? Also, how many park days do you already have planned. Pretty much I think it comes down to a cost factor.

I feel that if the expense is not a big deal to add on a day, I would go to a park that evening and try to get some rides out of the way, or try a dining experience, again, depends on the rest of your plans and length of stay. Going to EPCOT for dinner and then watching Illuminations is a nice way to start out.

With other poster's,if youarrive at that time by the time you check in and unpack you might just want to go to DTD for a nice dinner and a little shopping.Then get aa good night's rest and head to park of your choice bright and early the next day.Have a magical time at WDW.

We always love to go to DTD on our arrival day if we don't feel like burning a day on our hoppers. We just go down there and walk around, shop and have dinner. It really gets us in the "Disney Spirit"!

Thanks for the advice. I had totally forgotten about DTD--this is our first time, so..

We will be buying multi day passes--but I think that the suggestion to check in then do DTD might be jsut right.

We only have Fri and Sat a(slight chance for Sun). MK on Friday, AK on Sat, not sure if we'll have time for anthing else.

Do you need more than 1 day for AK?

Since you only have a couple of days, I would definitely go to a park after you have checked in. In January many of the parks close early, but the world showcase part of EPCOT is usually open until 9:00 pm. If you decide to go to EPCOT, you cannot miss riding Soarin'. It is fantastic. You feel like you are hang gliding over California. It's not scary, so even little ones will enjoy it. The other option is to head over to MK until it closes. One day for me in MK is never enough. However, AK is easily done in a day. If you decide to skip a park that day, try to get an ADR for Chef Mickey's for dinner that evening. That way the kids will get to interact with some characters, and you'll start out with some great pictures.

Since we don't get day there very often we make the most of every opportunity and go to the park on the first day. On Thanksgiving Day we will arrive at 5 PM and go over to MGM which closes at 10 PM.
