My Inlaws are in Daytona right now.(on vacation) They just got there yesterday. I told my DH to call them & tell them to stay in TN, it is nice there, but no they went on-enough of my venting. I have heard that the roads going north are backed up? So I was thinking maybe they could go to Naples I stay at my families condo? What do people think?

I am so upset that they would even go there knowing about the hurricane? They left IN sunday so it is not like they had no idea it was coming. Just dumb I think-sorry venting again.

They better leave now, it will probably take them a long time, with the way the roads are. That's about a 5 hour drive under the best of circumstances.

And they need to realize they could be driving into the storm....it's now projected to cross the state and exit into the gulf just north of the Tampa Bay area. But that track could certainly change and it could just as easily be Naples that's the exit point. It won't be a CAT IV hurricane then, by any means, but they are predicting high winds and a tremendous amount of rain - 10 to 20 inches.

As far as Florida is concerned, no place looks that good.
My Aunt has holed up in Alabama somewhere. She lives
on the beach in a condo that just had damage from
Charley. Gee, where would I go? Chicago maybe.
They should not have gone, you tried. Let them handle
it.

Thanks! The reason I thought Naples would be better is 1) going south instead of north traffic might be better 2) At least the condo has a generator & we know people there, covered garage .

Bad things the strom could hit any where and even though condo is a steel & concrete building but is on the beach.

Oh well like you said I voiced my feelings & were did it get me-nowhere:rolleyes:

my best friend is in palm coast near Daytona and she left this am at 9 and I last talked to her at 4:45 and she was still 70 miles from the ga/fl border. this normally takes 3 hours max!!

They need to leave and do it now.

I just heard on the Weather Channel that many cities along the central coast are running of of gas.

Where would I go? North central Florida aa squickl as possible.

Good luck to your relatives.
