We are staying at Saratoga Springs for 2 nights in Dec. Is the Dining plan worth it for two night? Where would you eat? We do not want to dine in any of the parks and have a DD3 & DD5. Help us decide. We will not dine at Chef Mickey's.

thanks...

Ohana at the Polynesian is nice - it is all you care to eat and has games and such for the kids.

Since you would be so close to DTD, you could use some of your counter service at wolfgang puck's which offers "real" food (not just burgers/fries).

Where or not it is worth it really depends on your dining habits. From your post I can't determine if you are going to be in the parks all day or not? If touring in such a short time is your main goal you may not want to take the time to do table service but if you are not planning on doing much of the parks, dining at WDW can be a good way to experience the rest of what disney has to offer.

Saratoga Springs is very close to DTD which has several options for both table service and counter service.

Thanks...

We are not going to the parks. Just the christmas party and don't plan on eating there. We have no real plan for the days just to relax. So we have lots of time to dine as long as it is kid friendly!

If you're going to the party I assume you are looking for lunch or breakfast, right? If you wanted to do a character meal there is the breakfast at 1900 park fare with alice, mad hatter, and mary poppins. Or without characters you may want to try WCC they have pony races for the kids and some other fun games for the whole family.

My favorite not park dining choices are
1900 PF
Concourse Steakhouse
Yatchclub Grill
Spoodles(you must go to the Broadwalk lobby-stunning)

I have never been at the new Turf Club at SSR or Olivias at OKW but they are on my one day I gotta try list. The nice thing about any of these choices you can go around and look at the Christmas displays. That is espically true of GF, you can take a nice photo at the tree before/after breakfast or Lunch you can do the monorail loop an look at Christmas displays or even poss. ride upfront in the monorail(which I love). Concourse Steakhouse and 1900 are good choices to be close to MK but remember that you can enter MK around 4pm on a seperate ticket, so you might not want to totally rule out a meal in the park.

and choosing TS dining at some of the resorts. The decorations are beautiful! WL and GF are especially gorgeous! Our family likes both meals at 1900 PF, and dinner at WCC has been great in the past (that is the only meal we have enjoyed there). As mentioned before DTD also has good options and the holiday festivities will be on there as well. I say go for it!

OMG!!! This is the trip I JUST did in DEC!
Me, hubby, DS (4), DD (9months)
and to make it even funnier...my name is JAIME! Spelled the same way!:lmao:

Anyway, we went up in Dec. 11th-12th (MVMCP) and checked out on the 13th.
We stayed at SSR.
(By the way...going to the MVMCP on the day we did...BEST EVER! VERY low crowds and SO much character interaction. It was a Tuesday night, second week in Dec.)

The first day we did a CS at AK, then for our TS we did Le Cellier. (yes, I know it was in a park, but I HAD to have the ice wine!)
The second day we did CS at Epcot, then TS at the GFC. This worked out very well because we ate the the GFC then right after dinner we headed over to MVMCP!
The DDP was SO worth it for two nights.
Some other ideas for a TS with kids...1900 Park Fare at the GF. The girls would LOVE it. I have never eaten there becasue my DD is only an infant and my son would not appreciate it! :rotfl2:
'Ohana at the Poly is really good. I have eaten there 2x and going back in March.

Just some ideas...maybe we'll see you up there. We always head to WDW for 2 nights at the beginning of Dec.
Have fun

Jaime;)

Some ideas for before the MVMCP:

Kona Cafe at the Poly - quieter than 'Ohana, but excellent food
'Ohana at the Poly - if quiet isn't your thing - also very good
Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL
Concourse Steakhouse at CR

Otherwise, our favorite non park TS restaurants are:

Spoodles on the BW
Boma at DAK
Yachtsman Steakhouse at YC (2 TS credits, though)

We haven't tried the Turf Club at SSR yet, but it's on our list.

We were at both last month with kiddos 2,2 & 6. The kids REALLY enjoyed Ohana (lots for them to do, coconut races, limbo, etc). Spoodles everyone LOVED the food and then we were able to walk around the Boardwalk and the kids got to watch the sidewalk shows and play carnival games. Happy planning:goodvibes

That's neat! Not very often I meet another Jaime!

We are pretty sure we will do the dining plan. We did it in 2005 when it was free and enjoyed it but it was over 7 days. We have no idea where we will eat this time though. I like the suggestion of visting some of the resorts to see there Christmas decorations.:santa:

Thanks for everyones help so far.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know how this works? I guess you need a ressie to get in the park before 7:00? Does anyone know if the restaurants are limited or if we can dine at any of them? When we went to the Halloween party I thought we could get in at 4:00 if we had ressies for Liberty Tavern or Tony square. I would love to eat dinner at the castle if I didn't have to buy an extra park ticket to get in!

Thanks...
