Where would you eat for no park visit?

We are going on a Disney Cruise in October and have a very long wait between our docking at 7:30am in Port Canaveral and our flight from MCO at 7:20pm. This will not be a Disney park trip but we would like to venture into the resorts and/or Disney Springs on that day. So here's my question:

Where would you eat for lunch if you couldn't go into the parks but still needed a little taste of all you love about WDW?

Remember you are going to be stuffing your face your entire cruise. So I wouldn't do any buffets. I haven't been there yet but homecoming looks good. Heard good reviews. Doesn't cost much for table service.

I would spend my day at the Springs. Lots of choices there and like the pp said, nobody here nor you will know ahead of time what you will feel like eating after the cruise. Perhaps just a make your own pizza at Blaze or some Poutine and a yuengling will be enough and different from ship's food.

I would try Homecoming or WPE (the CS one) at Disney Springs. Then walk around and maybe get dessert at the candy store or the ice cream place.

I personally like House of Blues or Ragland Road.

I would just go to Earl of Sandwich - soon you will be eating more than you want!!

Another vote for Homecoming. We did lunch there back in March, and it was good.

Homecoming. It was our first lunch in July. I might recommend a lunch of appetizers and shared entrees. Plates are very large.

I'm surprised that everyone is suggesting Disney Springs restaurants. OP wanted a taste of Disney.. None of those restaurants are Disney owned, and Disney Springs is a shopping mall, and doesn't give you that Disney atmosphere. If it were me, I'd eat at one of the monorail resorts and go resort hopping while I'm at it.

California Grill would be the best, so you could soak up some views, but I don't think they open early enough for that to be possible, so I'd probably do Kona Café.

Thanks everyone! I love the suggestions. I feel like we may be doing some resort hopping and then work our way over to Disney Springs. I like Disney Springs, and love Raglan Road and would love to try a few of the other restaurants there... but Kona for lunch is also a strong contender.

Disney Springs has plenty of places.

But I'd recommend Sanaa if you can get there during daylight - to see the animals on the Savannah.

If you can only visit AKLodge during daylight, that could offer a better experience, because they designed the hotel to offer even more opportunities to enjoy the animals.....and then go to Sanaa or Boma.

This is why I suggested Disney Springs-

I assume from the profile picture that OP is traveling with children. Although there are several resort area places good for lunch, I thought it would be kind of disappointing (especially for the monorail resorts) for the kids to be just outside of Disney/MK, but unable to go in. To avoid this issue, if I were traveling with kids, I'd go to Disney Springs and browse; the Lego store alone is good for 1/2 hour minimum. Walk around, have lunch, look at the water, make a rice krispie treat, get some gummies, etc.

I would consider Sanaa because of the animal viewing factor.

All good responses and I was thinking along this line as well. The boat ride to Wilderness lodge is a nice excellent taste of Disney as well and there are several restaurants.

Another vote for Homecomin'- we went there by chance right before our cruise this past February and have decided to make it a tradition; we are planning to visit Homecomin' again September 27, 2018 before our next cruise!

Chef Mickey's or Ohana.

To me, being on the monorail would be a sweet taste of Disney World, and both restaurants are entertaining. If you have younger kids, Chef Mickey's would be the better choice.
