Where would you dine for BD celebration?

This January I'll spend the big 6 0 at my favorite place and I've made reservations to dine at the Flying Fish for my magical birthday celebration but now I'm having seconds thoughts.

I keep going back and forth for various reasons including the menu, main courses and deserts. One reason I originally chose FF was because I wanted to try something new like the wagyu beef but upon further study I see that it is served with cauliflower which I am no fan of.

Just can't make up my mind. I know I want steak and a great desert and probably a signature restaurant.

Looking for ideas, suggestions. Where would you go if you wanted to celebrate a special occasion like a milestone birthday?

FF has great food and is very nice. Victoria and Alberts is very nice, might be a bid stodgy though. I am not a huge signature restaurant since the food is lost on my kids and not worth it for us. However, Disney Food Blog just did a review on two credit restaurants, here's the link.

Maybe something on there might strike your fancy. In my experience, I feel like this review is a little skewed since she is a regular and is critical of stale menus but most of the restaurants on that list have great food.

thanks, I'll t

thanks, I'll take a look at this later after work.

I did V&A a few years back for my 50th and it was worth it. I didn't think it was stodgy at all. if you don't want to go that route, I suggest Jiko. Before the renovations I would have recommended FF and while their appetizers and entrees are good, I think Jiko is slightly better and at a slightly lower price point. Neither have good desserts, in my opinion. FF used to have awesome desserts but no more!

Thank you.

You have many options and they are all good. For something really special, Victoria and Albert's is difficult to beat. we have loved every meal we have had there. It is more expensive than the other options and you will be there 3 hours (at least we always have been).
We also love Flying Fish, California Grill, Jiko, Artists Point.
It really depends what type of food you prefer and how much you want to spend.

I have California Grill booked for my birthday! I've enjoyed my previous meals there and the ability to see Happily Ever After either from your table or the California Grill balcony makes it extra special to me.

I also like doing custom cakes at Disney and the Contemporary pastry team is SO easy to work with and produces beautiful cakes! I also really enjoyed my one meal at Artist Point and cakes there come from the Contemporary so if thats something you may be interested in, that would be my second choice.

My brother will be having his birthday dinner at California Grill on Sunday with a view of Hallo Wishes and another dinner at Shulas later in the week. My birthday dinner choice for my 40th in July will be Via Napoli. I love the pizza and it fits well with my drinking around Epcot celebration.

There are a bunch of places that are great for a nicer birthday celebration. It depends on how "nice" of a restaurant you want. Do you want to get a bit more dressed up or do you want a nice restaurant that works during, or right after, touring the parks? We really enjoyed Jiko on our last trip. Great food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere.

Stick with the Flying Fish. That steak is the best on property and you will have no issues substituting out the cauliflower for a different side.

I agree with the PP, you can normally ask to substitute a side if you don't like it or if there are dietary reasons.

Early Happy Birthday. I will be doing the same thing as you this January, celebrating the 3-0, only at Ohana.

Happy early birthday to you as well. I can't think of no other place that I'd rather be for a special occasion than WDW :)

Pretty much. And I've been spoiled because January is mostly considered a value season with nice weather that it's pretty much the perfect place.

We did CG last night for my birthday and it was amazing. Our server, Shannon, was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was definitely more then just food, it was a dining experience I will never forget. I had the Tuna Three Ways, Ribeye, and the Warm Chocolate Cake. Even better for me at least was she kept the birthday celebration very low key. This is something I highly recommend.94C29EBA-006A-4445-B53F-AB2D7F8C2A94.jpegFFD86D33-50E1-4446-A420-63727C71267E.jpegBA2D1980-D92B-4041-B889-8AF5C2E24B1A.jpeg
