Where would you choose to go on vacation if....

Switzerland or Tokyo

Or a Narrowboat/Canal boat trip through England's canal systems

I will have to check out a Narrowboat/Canal boat trip through England because it sounds interesting.

Wow, I'd go nuts if I could do this! For me:

-Holland - because I'm sorta from there

-Italy - I'd go to Rome, Tuscany and Pompeii & Herculaneum

-Egypt - a cruise preferably

-Nevis/St Kitts - just to chill :)

-California - Back to San Diego and I'd love to see San Francisco

-New England - so many places I'd want to see there I can't even start!

Have fun deciding! :thumbsup2

I am going nuts and I've just started.:rotfl2:

I am hoping for a lot of input from all of you here on the Disboards. Places people have been and places people have researched for themselves. All help is gratefully appreciated.

Instead of going through a travel agent I'd like to be able to plan my trip and excursions myself, or do all of you think that would be too overwhelming.

Just the two of you? Any set amount of time?

I'd say either Italy or Hawaii.

Yes, it is just the two of us now and no set timetable. Well I wouldn't want to be gone for more than 6 weeks tops but would prefer to limit our trip to 4 weeks.

Costa Rica is beautiful! There are beaches, rainforest, and you can see active volcanos!

I recommend a week at the beach and a week up near Volcan Arenal. You can go see the cloud forests, and the butterfly gardens, pineapple and coffee plantations! Lots of cool birds and there are MONKEYS. :)

It can also be affordable. There are lots of little hotels that are wonderful.

Greek Island Cruise - Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, Patmos and Ephesus, Turkey. Add a visit to Athens and I'm set. Although some of the smaller ports would be great too in a smaller yacht.

I also have a great desire to visit Costa Rica - Playa Conchal through Guanacaste, with a stay (royal service) at Paradisus Playa Conchal. Snorkel. Jungle. walks on the beach. closest thing to paradise and so lush too! Oh and all the animals are the topper.

We also have Bora Bora on our list - it annoys my husband that I call it boring boring BUT as magnificent as the area is, pristine and the waters are amazing there isn't a whole heck of a lot to do there. I'll go anyway eventually because he wants to - ahhh the sacrifices.:goodvibes

Lots of great ideas I'm jotting down, thanks! :)

Planogirl, Please tell me all about Mallorca.
I can't find the picture that originally caused me to start reading about Mallorca but here's a few. It is an island just off the coast of Spain that is apparently quite popular with Europeans but only lightly visited by Americans. It's also named Majorca.

This place seems to have everything I'd like. It has beaches, nature, history (even castles!) and Spanish food! Maybe someday. :)

Which is currently closed for renovation. It was sweet as is so I can't imagine what it'll be like after the reno!

Now the not so $$
I would head back to Santorini Greece! Just so beautiful. And you feel like you are in a movie.

I would do the trip I did for my last BIG birthday....Spain, France & Italy.

The cities we visited were:
Rome
Florence
Naples
Pisa
Barcelona
Sitjes
Nice
Eze
Marseilles

I really loved Beijing and Hong Kong (does HKDL count?). I wish I had more time in China, it was a really wonderful country and so different than any place else I have visited.

My current short list is:
Egypt
Ireland
Greece
French Polynesia -- esp Bora Bora in one of those little houses on stilts

My next non-Disney trip is currently planned to Italy, but I might turn it into a Greece trip with some puddle-jumper flights.

Switzerland
Prague
Ireland
London
France
Greece
Italy
Spain
Amsterdam
Germany

Any and all! Take a train part of the time, fly part of the time. Stay at the places I loved more for a longer period, and just long enough to see certain museums, architecture, and scenery at other places.

You have a lot of planning to do---have fun!!!

With a month and any time of year, I would go to Europe in June or July and spend a week each in four places.

*I would start out renting a place in Scottland. I have never been before but I have always wanted to go. I may even split it into 4 days in Scottland and 2-3 in London going to the theatre and whatnot.

*From there I would move into Northern France and stay in a farm house near the ocean. I would spend much of the week enjoying the beach (cool water, though be warned) and the atmosphere but I would be sure to take a couple day trips into Paris. I would rent a car and drive the Champaign route (stopping for samples in teh villages) into Germany for the next part.

*I would do a Rhine River cruise through Germany:goodvibes

*Finally, I would rent a home on the Northern Part of Zealand Island in Denmark for a week (we did this this summer and loved it--we decided the Danes have better castles and palaces than anyone and we have no idea why they do not have a worldwide reputation for taht-and for being super nice people) and take day trips into Roskilde, Copenhagen, Helsingor, etc.

But that is only what *I* would like;) I a msure you will come up with the perfect vacation for you.

Those pictures are absolutely breathtaking. Hmm... now I'm going to have to gooogle to see what types of things to do if visiting.

Your itinerary sounds wonderful.

So many places to choose from that I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed and I've only started.

How about doing a Disney Adventures trip ? They have some that are all adults too. I would love to do any of them at all !

A Nile cruise.

Sleepy, my dh said he'd take me anywhere as long as it wasn't on another cruise. We went on a cruise in your part of the world a little over a year ago and while it was lovely he felt that we didn't have enough time in certain ports of call to really get a feel for the places.

He is the type of man who likes to spend time at a destination even if its only for 4 days before heading off to see someplace else.

JessicaR, That was the cruise we took over a year ago but we started out in Rome for a week and then caught a cruise for 12 days ending back in Italy where we spent 3 more days in Rome.

pyrxtc, I will look into taking a tour package but I was hoping I could plan this trip myself with help from the disboaders of course.
